Hi - I finished installing better rear speakers in my 2020 Ford Transit yesterday and thought I'd post a couple pics to help anyone else trying to find the wiring. I did order the 6-speaker package with the van, so it came with (crappy) rear speakers, but in a location in the bottom of the rear doors that will be under the bed platform, so I moved the location to the back of the headliner above our heads (idea stolen from Far Out Ride's helpful blog post).

For the left (driver side) rear speaker, there is harness LK4T-14A333 just inside the rear opening above the wheel well on the driver side:

144847

It comes as a loop with the the two wires closest to the edge of the harness plug as the source from the radio looped to the two wires closest to the middle of the harness plug that go to the speaker in the rear door. When you cut the loop, it disconnects the existing rear speaker, and you can connect the new speaker to the two wires closest to the edge. For the left side, White/Green is the +, Brown/Yellow is the -.

144848

For the right (passenger side) rear speaker, there is a larger harness right at the lower rear-most opening by the back door.

144850

It has a bunch of other wires - but also a similar loop of larger speaker wires like on the other side. Trim the loom down enough to pull out that loop (careful not to cut any of the wires). Similar to other side: It comes as a loop with the the two wires closest to the edge of the harness plug as the source from the radio looped to the two wires closest to the middle of the harness plug that go to the speaker in the rear door. For the right side, Brown/White is the +, and Brown/Blue is the -.

Hope this helps - even with all the helpful posts on rear speakers, it took me a while to figure out where I could patch in!

Headliner speaker success! Or at least once the aftermarket grills arrive, it will be done - I found out some speakers don't come with grills. :-0 Anyway, they sound way better than the factor speakers.

Nice. What speakers did you choose?
Far Out Ride's blog says they found Rockford Fosgate 6x8's were the largest that would still fit in the space between the headliner and the roof, so I got those for the back (P1683 Punch). Although I found out those oddly don't come with grills - so if you get that model, plan on buying the grills separately. Then for the front, I figured I should get from the same manufacturer, so I got the Rockford Fosgate kit that fits the Ford Transit, which has separate speakers for the front door and the front tweeters, which is the R1675-S model. I ordered the R1675-S from Crutchfield to get the free wiring harness and mounting plates to make installation simple. I should have taken more pics of that - just have the tweeter pic. They have a nice swivel housing you can can actually aim them a little bit towards the driver/passenger.

Did the RF front door speakers have a trim ring to push out from flush? I was going to put some nice speakers in but found it needed that ring
I ordered the front door speakers from Crutchfield and they included the ring at no extra cost. But if you already have the speakers, they do sell it separately as well - you might find other options if you search Ford Speaker Trim Ring: Metra 82-5605 Speaker Mounting Brackets Install 6-1/2" or 6-3/4" speakers in select 2015-up Ford vehicles at Crutchfield

Here's the BEMM detail on where to patch in if you don't have the six speaker package, see the lower part of this post:

I wonder if the wording means their could be a connector/signal in the body harness (14401?) on my van - i.e. not always present on low series variants - does that mean it could be present on my van (what does low series mean? I unfortunately don't have the 6 speakers package but maybe upgraded wiring package/modified vehicle harness on my van might have it?)

Would like to add rear speakers and a sub to my 2020, in addition to replacing the stock speakers.

Anyone have any ideas on ways to be able to run the car audio for extended (indefinite?) periods of time? - provide power to the radio when the key isn't in the ignition for long periods of time.
I'd love to hook up one of my upfitter switches for that. That way I can have nice stereo in the back when the car isn't on.

Past transit forum threads have said the plug for the rear speakers is located in the wire harness high on the drivers side wall, Just aft of the B-Pillar, One of those threads had a photo that showed the plug twisted within the harness.
Another thread has the service manual rear speaker wiring diagram, The Middle speakers are wired in series with the rear speakers. Also a couple of speaker wires change color between the front and back.

My 2020 cargo came with the front speakers only (but is otherwise a high option van...sync 3, navi, etc.), after reading the BEMM I figured adding rear speakers was as simple as hooking them up.

Not quite.

Between the BEMM and the FSM I dug around and initially opted to grab the speaker wires near each tail light (both left and right are present at each respective location.

There's a separate diagram for 6 and 8 speaker trucks. I figured I had the wiring for a 6 speaker truck as there was no wiring at the mid location.

I was wrong. Apparently I have the main harness for an 8 speaker truck but without the mid location harnesses.

There's a connector for a harness to go forward from the spot between the taillight and wheel arch that serves the mid speakers and sliding door stuff, and other goodies like power running boards. If you have the 8 speaker wiring but only intend to run 6 speakers, you need to shunt the speaker wires together either here or at the taillight connector, as they're wired in series and won't work without both pairs of speakers.

Trouble was I'd already buried those connectors behind cabinets and toolboxes and the prospect of unbolting everything to dig them out was unappealing.

So I grabbed both pairs of rear speaker wires directly from the harness right before it exits the raceway and slides down the rear left side of the van body.

Got all that hooked up. .. no audio, and no fader on the head unit. . . not as easy was just hooking them up, it seems.

Next problem was turning that on in the ACM.

Quick live data view of the ACM with a generic scan tool showed it was set to "rear speakers: disable".

Fired up FDRS, bought another 2 day pass ($50, but I had another keypad I needed to program anyway) and thought this was gonna be a cakewalk when I found the "enable the rear speakers" function right under the ACM.

153995

Downloaded and ran it. . . failed. Not possible with this VIN.
Ran it again. . . failed.
Tried the "configuration" and "programmable module installation" functions. . .no change.

Apparently Ford sent my van out with upfitter package and 8 speaker wiring and but blocked the option off in the ACM to ever enable them.

Ok, no big deal. . .there's always Forscan (which I've never used).

Downloaded it, ran it, it happily recognized all the modules on the truck, even the ACM. . . but had the scary hex editor screen instead of the friendly options toggle screen for the ACM.

Bit of googling, another user on here had the same issue.

Followed FordTC2021's instructions, changed one single block of code to 0001, puckered up and sent it.

153997

Cycled the ignition and was elated to finally have THIS screen and functional rear speakers!

Ohhhhhh, you mentioned having a second keypad. If you get THAT to work, please let me know. From everything I can tell, the new lock system they started using in the 2020 only supports one external keypad. As soon as you try to connect a second one, it drops the first one. My dealer tried adding both for hours and finally gave up. I know you could add 2 on pre-2020’s, but no one I’ve seen yet on forums has been able to get a second keypad on a 2020. If you succeed - there will be celebration. :)

Well then, pop the champagne. I have 3 of them on my 2020. Here's the post that I made a few months ago that apparently solved the mystery and has been shown to a few dealers. . .

Seems the major source of confusion is everyone tries to program the keypad under BCM....it's not there on the 2020...it's under an apparently brand new module called RTM (remote transceiver module)

Have the dealer go there and it's cake.

Oh, that is AWESOME, thank you!!! Every time I have to walk around from the passenger side slider to the driver side to unlock it, I get frustrated. You made my day.

Hi Lockmedic - any chance you are anywhere near Utah/Idaho/Montana and I could pay you to do it? Just spent another wasted 3 hours at my local Ford dealer with your instructions and video provided to them, and they still weren't able to figure it out. I suppose it's possible I got a bad keypad as a part, but I doubt it.

Unfortunately no.... I'm in East Tennessee.

Where are you specifically? I may be able to refer a local locksmith with the ability.

Try another dealer, they're clueless. Took my dealer 30 minutes using his instructions
