Has anybody heard about any possible/probable changes/upgrades for the upcoming 2022 MY Transits? I'm Specifically interested in/curious about:

1. 2nd Gen PFDI (Port Fuel/Direct Injection) EcoBoost.
2. Electric Parking Brake for GVWR > 9,500 lbs.
3. Electronic Transmission Gear Selector Rotary/Dial Knob replacing the current old-school gearshift lever.
4. HID Headlamp Upgrade for Cargo Vans.
5. Adventure Prep Pkg. & Swivel Seats
6. Other things I'm probably forgetting... 🤣

3. Electronic Transmission Gear Selector Rotary/Dial Knob replacing the current old-school gearshift lever. Coming for sure. Already seen one!
4. HID Headlamp Upgrade for Cargo Vans. In discussions now
5. Adventure Prep Pkg. & Swivel Seats You can get the swivel seats with the Adventure Prep package now. It is a option
6. Other things I'm probably forgetting... 🤣 The 'E' Transit is coming and it may make the 2022 be a short run for the gas model

Do you know if the Electronic Rotary Dial trans shift selector will be Optional, or is that what they're changing to Standard across the board?

How will that affect Manual/Sport mode gear selection (steering wheel paddle shifters?)

Do you have any pictures you could Please post?

Hoping Ford doesn't Completely Axe Gas ICE Transits Altogether... 😱

Here's a question I forgot: According to the 2020 Transit BEMM (pg. 47) the AWD Transit still uses Hydraulic Power Assisted Steering and NOT Electric Power Assisted Steering, is this True or a misprint/outdated info?

I'd like to see push-button start (2021 may already have this, I haven't paid attention) and to be able to unlock the door by just placing your hand in the handle like many other new cars. I admit I am spoiled and hate having to take my keys out to unlock the doors, although I can use my keypad and avoid that. What I can't avoid, that I hate more, is having to put a key in an ignition! First-world problems.

Those things would be nice but not enough to keep me from buying one as they are now I guess. I have a ‘16 Jeep Wrangler that I have to get the keys out to unlock the door and start the engine. Even better....it has crank down windows! Hahahaha! Sometimes I enjoy the simplicity of that vehicle. No power window motors to go bad. No technology to go haywire. Though it has all the engine and drivetrain electronic “brains”.

Yes, I completely agree! These are some of the things I forgot to post in my list above. The current switchblade key/fob is absolutely Horrendous, Ford needs to update the Transits to pushbutton start and wireless proximity unlock/lock just like every other vehicle on the market today.

If you want to save up to a couple of hundred $ a year on gas, by all means have at it. I’d view extra gas expense as insurance to avoid higher costs later on. A “Super Duty” engine in a van has worked great for me.
Not quite sure what you mean... In the Real World (for lead-footed people like me, anyways) the GTDI engines are Far WORSE on fuel consumption than the NA engines. I prefer GTDI for MOAR POWAH 🤪 because Fun & Towing! But Ford offers choices, different strokes for different folks.

Turbos and I don’t seem to get along very well. Too much lead foot??!! They seem to like to fail on me and the repairs are 😵 Even doing it myself those turbos are $$$$ I decided this time around to go back to the regular V6. The stock V6 is actually pretty good as is and I don’t see the need for the extra hp anyway. It is after all a gigantic box on wheels. Gives me more time to enjoy the scenery.

Also...I read somewhere that the EcoBoost engine really is either Eco OR Boost. Meaning you don’t get the Eco when you are in the “boost” and you don’t get the “boost” when you are trying to be Eco. Haha! Makes logical sense even though some people read EcoBoost as being both at the same time. 🤣

This is Exactly Right. It's either Eco OR Boost, but never both simultaneously. The sole driving force behind the industry change from large-displacement naturally aspirated V8s to smaller-displacement turbocharged engines is ever-tightening Government CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) Standards.
