I have the good fortune of having a friend who works in the Kansas City Assembly Plant. He kindly followed my Transit Wagon 350 XLT MR LWB through its build yesterday and today and sent me updates and photos in real time as it was being assembled. (He even had my name written on the dash panel !) I hope you will enjoy these photos of the assembly process.
Now we wait for delivery -- it can't come too soon !

One of the photos I received from my friend at the KC plant showed the "Special Order" sticker attached to my vehicle when assembly was completed. (See thumbnail). I spoke with my dealer today, and he tells me that when the shipper loads vehicles for transport, their protocol is to load the "Special Order" vehicles first, as these are vehicles ordered for individuals who are waiting for them. They then load the vehicles for stock/inventory after that. Hopefully that will done be for our Wagon !

He went over it, particularly paint, for some extra QC checks and also had the QC team give it a couple of extra goings-over. I was getting e-mail updates and photos from him as the build progressed. It was fun.

Like the old adage goes... it ain't what you know, it's who you know!

Too bad your friend can't make few bucks from 'donations' to the same for other folks (the pictures at least). My kids are excited about our new van and would probably love to see pictures of it being put together.

Correct, Tom B -- it's a 3.7 L
I don't think you'll be disappointed. We wanted the EcoBoost engine, but were buying used and they're tough to find in LR passenger models. For the base engine it does a really good job moving the 6,300-lb van around, we've never felt it was underpowered. Too soon for me to comment about fuel economy, we've had ours just over a week!
