I have 2015 diesel and was driving yesterday, heard loud pop, then lost transmission function. No reverse or drive. I wonder if my issue is similar to yours.
PCM communication issue..
2016 T250 diesel transmission doesn't shift.. changed PCM. Still communication issue.. bought it in December..3 days in shop.. no answers.

Just trying to help I had a similar problem last summer when my van was only couple weeks old I couldn't shift from park and when I try do it really hard I kind of did but never when to drive. My problem was the linkage from a shifter came undone from the plastic clip where it was attached to the transmission it was simple fix just put it back together and it was all good never have a problem since then
