Paying Full MSRP

For those of you out there who have already ordered your van, did you pay full MSRP?

I am getting ready to order my van and the dealer told me that since it is a factory build from the ford fleet the price is non-negotiable.
Is that a legitimate policy or should I find another dealer?

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

My dealer also discounted a couple Grand along with the 500 rebate.... I have not heard about the 1000 $ uplift rebate... (is this for Adrain Steel type ad on's?) It is going to take 9 months to get my van I ordered... No way will I wait to have Adrain Steel uplift it!!! I will install all that myself.
I realize that this discussion is a bit old. But just wanted to let you know that we took the True Car price in and our dealer meet it without any issues; even though they were not a True Car dealer. They also found us a discount and rebate we did not know about. We are happy with the price.
Shop shop shop my friend.we got full employee discount around 8500 plus a 1000 from Costco membership.9500 off the MSRP.this was in Sept 2014.still not delivered.

I got invoice pricing in the fleet dept. Figured with a new model getting much more than that might have been difficult. But to have doubled the discount from list would have certainly been worth a little more effort on my part for sure ;)

Oh well, got it in 10 weeks from order date so perhaps have to pay to play.

Same deal for me. Ordered from the fleet dept at straight invoice minus the $2k rebate. Seemed like a fair enough deal to not spend a lot more time searching and I got my van in 10 weeks as well. It worked out to 13% off sticker.

Haven't bought anything yet. What I've found so far is between 10-14 % off MSRP in Jersey

Bringing this over from the Thread "X Plan for all Veteran's."

An added advantage that I discovered, the maximum the dealership can charge you for "Doc Fees" is $100.00, no matter how high they are in your state.

All,

I never paid any attention to the VETERAN's ADVANTAGE Program, because I knew I could get the X Plan through the DAV (Disabled American Veterans).

Was talking with a buddy who never served in combat, never wounded and in fact never left the U.S. He is ordering a new Mustang with the X Plan and I asked him, how? He told me about the membership benefits of the VETERAN's ADVANTAGE Program, one of them is X Plan pricing with Ford.

So, if you are a U.S. Veteran, of any era, no matter where you served, you might want to look into joining. $59.95 a year, less if you join for multiple years.

It has a lot more discounts available, sort of like a AAA membership for Vets.

If you are a Veteran, and thinking of buying a Ford, no matter which model, you'll save thousands more than the membership price, by being a member, on a Ford. :D

300 over invoice then rebates

Again, this is an old thread, but I am in the process of pricing.

My local dealer quoted me $300 over invoice less rebates. Anyone know how the costco deal works?

Thanks,

HH

We are paying 500 over invoice before tax and license. Our dealer is in Orange County CA. We are also suppose to get the best of whatever incentives are being offered, but not sure what that is.
I bought mine for a couple hundred under invoice.

Make a list of all the options you want, send it to about 8 dealers and let the dealers fight over the sale.

My local dealer quoted about $500 over invoice, but dropped it to invoice when I got a competing quote by email. They will apply whatever incentives may be available on the date of sale. The van just hit the production line yesterday.
I did something similar to what Orton did, except I went to each one and talked to them. I went to 3 different Cities and I'm glad that I did. You may want to Google "New car Holdback" as this was some interesting reading regarding prices. I got my Transit for Dealer Invoice minus the New Car Holdback. The Holdback was close to $1200. One dealer would give me the holdback less $500, another dealer told me to have a good day when I mentioned Holdback. Pays to shop. I'll have to travel 75 miles to pick it up but it sure saved me some money by doing it this way. I'm not sure if I caught them at a weak moment or they needed to make quota's, but it was to my advantage. They aren't giving it away so they still are making money some where on the deal.

Is there an order sheet that lists all the Transit options, packages & major selections by the proper Ford codes & descriptions?

Have been doing online searches filtering whatever I'm able to & selecting every color except white & black, w/o success.

You need to get a copy of the Ford publication that lists the standard and the optional equipment with the order codes for each option. The 18 page publication was titled "2015 Transit major product features" and was issued 1-15-14. That is out of date and a current publication should be available from a Ford dealer.

The best on line new car pricing site that I found was nadaguides.com. That site was accurate.
PM CrewVanMan, he sent me the 2016 Transit Buyers Guide, it lists order codes with descriptions, what's standard, options and packages available.
I just purchased a 2015 van. I went to Consumer Reports Build and Buy, paid my $6 and was able to develop my ideal vehicle at dealer inventory price. That was emailed to various dealers in my area and I received a number of solicitations. I ended up with two, one of which was very direct and precise; told me exactly what was in stock and exactly what it would cost. I saved $3000 from the MSRP.
What was particularly nice is that I saved all the heavy lifting that goes into the normal dealership process--looking through the lot, pressure to buy what is not wanted, and so forth. This on-line stuff is pretty cool.
I always believe everyone must win in negotiation.
When I bought my first new ford van in 2003 I went to my local dealer for my own personal convenience and did the build, and offered the salesman $500 over invoice. I will not haggle back and forth, we can sign now. Speak with your manager. If he agrees great if not I thank you for your time, I do not want to waste it.
Accepted.
I have bought 4 econolines, 1 transit, with one more coming in October this way from this dealer. I walk in the manager directs me to a salesman we build, order deposit I leave we are all happy.
I also bring them to the dealer for all major service other than oil changes, and I am treated well by them.
This is for those who haven't yet ordered.

My order was a disaster, because of the need to drop-ship for the 4x4 upfit. The one I ordered went below invoice with a military discount,...but after 3 months when it was built, I was informed it sat in KC (stalled, due to transportation problems) to be shipped 1000 miles west, instead of a 1000 East,..and Ford would not alter the shipping code,...even after many hours on the phone and through e-mails.

I originally wanted to order it within a hundred miles of the 4x4 upfit factory, but the dealer said I'd have to pay East coast vehicle tax, which is more than 3x's New Mexico. This tax situation wasn't true,...the 3 different "fleet managers" I spoke with were either incompetent or lied.

The point being,...do not trust car dealers,...seek out all the info you can. Yes,...I got a van,...off a lot,...and got very screwed out of the options I wanted. I could have taken the loss, and reordered,...waiting another 6 months or more,...but I've been without a vehicle since Feb. First wasted 3 months on a Sprinter 4x4 order, than another 3 months on a Transit that I did not get. For me it was a lose/lose,...I now have a van that I don't particularly like (because of the absence of options), and waiting for an end of September 4x4 upfit.

I'll be seven months waiting,...without a vehicle,...if can Quigley honor my appointment time. A 2wd Transit is useless for me in the Rocky Mts. If however, I had sufficiently factored in the incompetence of those to make it happen,...which includes the fully moronic management at Ford KC,...I believe that I would have had my van, with all options and 4x4 by now.

Also keep in mind,...that unlike Mercedes, which allows changes to your order up till the build date,...nothing can be changed on your Transit. Thus, not only do you have to get it all right the first time,...you also must be certain that the dealer got it right the first time.

I went to 4 dealerships before finding hope at the 5th dealership. They had a commercial fleet dept there and the manager was the one who I talked to. Final purchase price was almost $7k below msrp. Shop around! My van was a new build order that took about 3 months, btw
Don't have all the few pieces of Transit sales literature that were available from a Ford dealer & directly from Ford with me, but don't recall one titled "2015 Transit major production features".

Have the new 16 page official dealer ordering check list (whatever it's called) coming by mail.

Won't order until I at least get to test drive a Transit Wagon & must wait until I get back home. Until then I want to effectively exhaust every possibility of finding a close match in dealer inventory while in Megapolis.
