For those of you out there who have already ordered your van, did you pay full MSRP?

I am getting ready to order my van and the dealer told me that since it is a factory build from the ford fleet the price is non-negotiable.
Is that a legitimate policy or should I find another dealer?

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

He lied to you. Ordering is not a full price affair.see it this way.... that vehicle is going to sell. It will not sit, it already had a buyer. The other cars on the lot may be there for months.

X plan pricing is possible on orders. As are all the rebates.

Blue Oval Forums has a thread about this stuff.

Find a new dealer is possible. If not, put them on notice.

For folks willing to travel there were dealers selling Sprinters at invoice . One guy flew from MI to TX and was met by the dealer with his new van at the airport, where they completed the transaction before driving the new ride home for it's shakedown. Anyone know of any Ford dealers doing this?

Price is always negotiable. Go to another dealer. My local dealer offered special order vehicle for $500 over invoice. Way below MSRP. A special order vehicle should be less expensive than a vehicle on the dealers lot. No flooring costs to dealer. The ability to negotiate a better price on a vehicle on the dealers lot will improve as more vehicles are available. Now they feel they can sell whatever they have due to low inventory.

When I tried to order a van from my local small dealer we had settled at 200 over invoice minus rebates. Just find a different dealer.
My order wouldn't go through, though. I wanted a 130 MR diesel with 3.73's. No go, even though it shows OK in the order and towing guides. Only 3.31's available to order right now in the shorter wheelbase. You lose 2900 lbs. of towing capacity with 3.31's.

It appears the sale pricing is following the same evolution as the premier of the Promaster van. Wait a while and save. Right now promaster vans can sell for $6K under MSRP. Your sales man wants profit so you can't blame him ,but he's is lying through his teeth so I wouldn't deal with a person like that. Figure 18-20% off MSRP for a great deal. Look at truck pricing, the discounts, rebates etc… Expect the same in the near future, but not now.

havent heard of dealers doing this, but I think the onous in that situation is on the consumer. One has to be willing to go out of state. Then again, the travel costs alone may wipe out any savings you do see by going out of state/province...

Thanks for everyone's input.

I'll definitely be seeking out another dealership. I'll probably e-mail a few near my area.

Thanks again!
Best to do your homework and send dealer an exact list of what you want to buy including each option's code. That way they know you are aware of how the system works. The information required is on this site. 18 page "major product features" gives all the codes. The 72 page "2015 Transit What's Important" gives lots of info about the vehicles.

Last night on TV there was a commercial for Blue Springs Ford in Blue Springs, MO, (suburb of Kansas City), advertising any new car or truck that they sell for $500.00 under invoice.
There was no disclaimer about ordered vehicles or Transits. This is a BIG dealer too. Lots of volume.....
Might be worth checking out

Be interesting to see their justification for getting out of that one. Wonder if they could be held to it in their State.
