Is anyone making use of the Ford Owner Site? Of course they want me to register, but reading the info on the main page I'm not sure how useful I'd find it.

About the only thing I'm really interested in is the SYNC connection for engine diagnostics. Does that work on the Transits? (On some page to "check availability" I selected my year and SYNC3 and it popped up a window saying something like "this may not pertain to your model" - real helpful there...)

Since I have no intention of using Ford service for anything aside from major warranty repairs, I don't think their scheduled maintenance thing would be very useful. Any other reasons to sign my life away? (Okay, I have no idea what they ask for but I know they want my mobile number for the SYNC thing...)

My main use is to be able to see what the Vehicle Health Report has come up with. Not much, hope it stays that way. Not sure how useful the info there will be, anyway. My OBDII reader will likely be more useful.

And, since you can enter your own service history events, I log my DIY oil changes (yes, I keep my receipts, as well), and tire rotations.

Oh, well logging service manually might be useful. Not sure if they'd accept it as "proof" you actually did the changes and such but couldn't hurt.

Hrm... Just set up an account, added my phone number, then clicked the "how to create a vehicle health report" - and was told it isn't available "at my trim level"! So, is it the SYNC3? Or did they remove that option for the 2016 model year?

Further clicking finds a page listing SYNC3 features for my vehicle - and the only thing under "safety and maintenance" is the 911 assist option. Phooey...

Edit: Yes, just found a comment from a Ford rep on the Ford Escape forum that Vehicle Health Report is not available on SYNC3.

I created my first and only vehicle health report in the summer of 2010 when I was playing with the features on my new F350. Check engine light was on, and the vehicle health report was totally worthless. The only thing it said about the code was a recommendation to have the vehicle serviced. No specifics on what was wrong, which turned out to be an unplugged sensor from when I checked the air filter.

I like the Ford owner site, I use it to keep track of my maintenance history. But the vehicle health report is completely worthless IMHO, unless something has changed.

I got with it right after I bought my Transit. Added my '04 F-150 to the garage as well. So that was 5 months ago.

Used to be, I would get coupons in the mail for $15 oil changes...hey, I'll take that! I would get so many of them that I couldn't get to use them before they expired. Those stopped altogether about 3 years ago. I was hoping this "membership" would get me some more of those, but now all you get is ten bucks off their forty dollar service...and they don't cough those up very often. Aside from that, the site is pretty much worthless.

Just yesterday however, they sent me a coupon for $750 off a new vehicle. The only thing I would consider buying is a new F-150...but until they make one that can haul myself, my girlfriend, backpacking and camping gear, mountain bikes, coolers and all the other accoutrements and gets a solid 27MPG on the highway I'll just keep the one I've got.
