I'm hoping others will share their experiences too, but I wanted to mention a few things new Transit buyers may want to be aware of before placing an order (assuming the dealership doesn't have what you want, because they probably won't, especially if you want a passenger wagon):
1. The salesperson you talk to will likely not know anything, or very little, about the options of the Transit (I try not to blame them). If you end up placing an order, be sure to check the options list carefully. One letter difference in an order code can mean the difference in a sliding door vs 60/40, or even a wheelbase and trim (XL vs XLT): not something that can easily be fixed when you take delivery.
2. For those of you ordering a wagon, be sure they have selected the proper number of seats. I just realized the 10 passenger wagon I ordered didn't have the "10 passenger" order code. Thankfully I caught it in time to change it. (also, leather seats aren't available with more than 10 seats)
3. Ask them to show you an actual order form. This makes the options more clear and you can check their work.
I ordered my vehicle as a daily driver for my large family, so I will admit my needs aren't typical for most Transit buyers. I was also fortunate to catch the sales person's mistakes early enough to correct the order.
Has anyone else had any issues with an incorrect order?
*ordered 2016 T150 RWB LR, 3.5L, 10 passenger leather, sync w/ nav
