So we made an order for a 2023 Transit van back in September of 22 and submitted it to my local dealer that I have dealt with many times before. There was nothing out of the ordinary on it. It was just a standard passenger van for my church with a high roof. I built the order online, gave it to my dealer, and got it ordered. I followed recommendations and read what I could on this forum before doing so to try and make it as smooth as possible. Fast forward to now, 4 months later, and after I talked to my dealer a couple days ago they checked on it and at some point in the past month it appears Ford canceled my order and did not inform anyone. For what it's worth, I received my second 45-day notice that they were still awaiting parts from Ford in early December. The dealer states that they contacted their Ford rep and he could do nothing about it since the order bank is closed.

Is this normal?

This is the first time I've heard of a 2023 model year being cancelled by Ford.

I've been very involved in this entire situation since 02/22 when I placed my order(s) and so far I have not seen this situation yet.

If everything is accurate and your dealership is claiming that there's nothing they/Ford can do about it, that is very bad news.

Same thing happened to me. I stock ordered my van in October 2022 because I missed the retail order window. I just found out two days ago that my van will not be built, so I just placed a retail order on a Transit Trail to at least be in a line. In the meantime I'm looking at other options (with @CrewVanMan) because it doesn't seem as though there is any idea as to when I can receive a van. It's either the dealer doesn't care, or Ford isn't doing a great job informing them.

Did it have a power sliding door on the options list? That's the only thing I can think of that I've heard has led to some cancellations.

I would take any dealer suddenly claiming your order is cancelled without additional proof as potentially suspicious. Especially if your order was from prior to more recent MSRP increases.

Dealers have very little to lose if they can claim your order was cancelled and you walk away, only to then take delivery of your van anyway and resell it for a higher price.

I'd ask for any kind of official cancellation notice from Ford they might be able to provide.

Do you have a preview order based on when you ordered the van? What was that date?
If Ford cancelled the order, it would have shown up on their Vehicle Visibility report. Ford has not cancelled any of our orders placed on or before 9/22/2022/ After that date, your order would have to have been submitted as a 'stock ordered unit' so if they did not get it in and tried to do the Retail Customer order, it would have got cancelled at that time.

No power door on our order.

I have a "Customer Order Verification" printout they gave to show it was submitted. I have the original ford email when it was recieved and the two emails at 45 day intervals. The last was on December 8th. The order and confirmation was on 8-23-22.
I called the 1 800 Ford number earlier with all this information plus the sales and order number and they said theres nothing in their system about it. 🤷‍♂️

I just looked I have the preview order too that you asked about. It's from 08-23-22 as well

Do you have a Preview Order? Did you give them a signed Preview Order and a copy of your driver's license when you order was placed? Getting the emails from Ford should have been the reasone you information was submitted properly as far as the COVP submitted to Ford.

I’d try to get all that documentation to Ford somehow and tell them to fix it. Maybe push your dealer to do the same too.

I would get your info all together and go to Ford. If the dealer can get your van and resell it they stand to make a profit

For the record, I did. I gave ford my order #, sales #, tracking #, and authorization #. They claimed all brought up nothing. They eventually told me there was nothing else I could do from the "front end" as a customer. All other inquiries would have to be done by my dealer with thier ford rep from the "back end".
I had a private conversation with CrewVanMan. All I can say is if I'd used him to order it to begin with I'd have been better off.
At this point there's nothing else I can do, and the dealer claims the same. As this was a replacement for an unreliable church van you can imagine the disappointment when I told them as well. But, God is good, two 2022 GMC passenger vans with less than 1000 miles showed up at a nearby dealer a couple days after all this happened. We now own both. I hope your orders all go well, and thanks for all the help!
