...for Ford to get you the vehicle you ordered?

I paid my deposit on 6/3/15 and was told 8-12 weeks until I get it.

Then in Aug. they told me 2nd week of Oct.

Then in Oct. they told me last week of Oct.

Then in the last week of Oct. they told me first week of Nov.

Now 6 months to the day since I ordered, they either have no idea when I'll get it, or know that I really don't want to hear the bad news that they're being told by Ford at this point, so they're playing dumb to try to keep me on the hook.

Fact is, if they gave me a date it wouldn't really mean all that much after all the promised delivery dates have come and gone. The dealership's words mean about as much as a politician's words at this point.

So how long do you think you could wait?

and wait...

Clam- Good question, right now it looks like, for me anyway, until Ford pulls it's head out of it's a$$. I thought about canceling my order (dual sliding cargo doors) and just ordering another with a single sliding door but then that's still another 14-16 weeks. Think I'm better off for the wait of 7 months (which is wishful thinking) instead of ordering another and waiting until March or April. So until Ford hears that sonic boom from it's Head exiting it's A$$ guess I'll wait and hope for the best. Please see signature for ETA's of my special ordered T-150.
The truly sad thing is that no one can/will give you any reason for the delay. They have that "We don't care and you can't make us" syndrome that is really very frustrating. From going to a late availability (dual cargo doors) in 2015 it's turning out to be the same for the 2016 model. One would think in a years time they could get it right, not so in there case. But in true Ford fashion they didn't give us a heads up of late availability for 2016.

Clams Transit shows to be built. Nothing coming up for wgc as far as build date or release from ETIS. Did you guys call the Ford Corporate number for the National Sales Manager I posted recently? They usually call you back pretty quickly. Tell him your situation and you should get some straight answers.

CVM called Tuesday and still awaiting a return call. Dealer told me from his Ford District Representative stated that production line is suppose to start up 4 Jan, 2016 ( dual cargo doors). Who knows? I'll give them until tomorrow and then try again on the following Monday and post results? Thanks CVM for the info and follow up. The saga continues.

We put our deposit down on September 25th. It was delivered November 30 (Monday) and we signed the papers yesterday. That was pretty much what we were told just a couple of days after the deposit was placed.
Now it is off to the mobility place to have the seats removed, floor replaced and the wheelchair lift added to the inside back.

Our Transit was ordered Sept 17, we received the vin less than 10 days later. It was built on Nov. 12, and arrived at the dealer in California today (Dec. 4). It has a lot of options, but fortunately none were hard to get (such as the dual doors that are causing heartache for several forum members).

Clam,

Love the meme!

Actually, my wife has been waiting for this van for three years!
Let me explain.

Three years ago (late 2012) my wife asked if she could get a new van. (She's been a quadriplegic for 36 years) We've had 4 (new) vans over the years and the one we have now is a 2002 GMC Savana conversion van. I hate to even say the low miles that are on it, barely two years worth on a 13 year old van, but she doesn't ask for much and she just wanted something new like many people do.

I told her that all the current vans were 20 or 30 year old technology and that Ford was coming out with a new van next year if she could wait a little bit and she agreed.

Then Ford decided to postpone introducing the Transit until 2014, so we waited a little longer. When they finally started building them in - what was it - May or June of 2014? - I called Braun to see how long it would be until they had an UnderVan lift available. Her previous vans had regular fold-out lifts but they would rattle like crazy next to her head while we were traveling so we got an UnderVan lift in the GMC and it is great. Braun said as soon as they could get their hands on a Transit they would start fiddling. In addition, they were only building cargo vans in the beginning and we wanted a wagon. So we waited some more. I called Braun a few time over the months but couldn't get a good answer.

When we started to see the wagons and I started seeing them on this forum we waited a little longer until finally during this past summer, we went to the local accessibility installer who assured us that Braun was not going to make the undervan lift available for this vehicle and would only be doing commercial lifts. We discussed it and finally placed the order in September. Three years!

I hope it was worth the wait... :|

Pay a deposit of $6000 on 5/29/2015 and find out the dealer does not have a allocation for this Ford vehicle?

NOT A FORD TRANSIT....but a 2016 Ford Mustang GT350R

I know some Ford dealers have done this on some Ford Transit orders where forum members have ordered their special Transit and it takes months to get it, or in some cases, it gets damaged or held up with problems (like the dual sliding doors)

Ford dealer told a friend of mine he had a allocation to get a 2016 Ford Mustang GT350R so he placed a 10% deposit on 5/29/2015 and dealer put in a CONFIRMED VEHICLE ORDER and gave a copy to the customer. Dealer kept telling customer the vehicle was delayed for various reasons. I had done some inside research for my friend and could not find that the dealer was going to get this Mustang. Then finally yesterday my friend called the dealer and they told him they would NOT GET THE MUSTANG GT350R!!!!

Checked with another Ford dealer and found out that even though you have a CONFIRMED VEHICLE ORDER with order number and dealer number in your hands, UNLESS the dealer has a allocation for this particular vehicle, it will not be built.
So be sure when you go to the dealer to order your Transit, BE SURE that dealer has a allocation for a SPECIAL ORDERED TRANSIT.

Is that something you get in writing or just take the dealership at their word when they reply with a, "yup", when you ask?

You have to see what Transits are on the lot and have some kind of idea how many they sell. The main point is how long it takes to get a VIN after you place your order. Getting the VIN tells you it is in line to be built. I have seen the VIN show up in less than 2 weeks and others might take as long as 2 months. A lot has to do with what options you order and what body configuration you have. Transit vans seem to get faster priority over the wagons, probably because of the larger number of vans built.

No deposit on mine and I received it 66 days after ordering. When I ordered it I mentioned to the fleet guy that I heard these were taking a long time to get (this was a year ago) and he said confidently, "nah, a couple months, we're a big dealer, we have the allocation" or something to that affect. Then he actually called his secretary to make sure they had the allocation while I was sitting there. I was skeptical, but he was right. That was for a HR EL 3.5 T250 van with windows all around and most everything but MFT.
So, it makes me wonder if who you order it from has as much to do with when it's built as what configuration you order.

So if you have a VIN# it means the dealer does in fact have the allocation for the special ordered vehicle?

That is interesting! I think it took about 2 weeks for our VIN. We ordered through a dealership that orders a lot of fleet vehicles. Ordered MR Transit 150 wagon XLT the first week of October, built December 2-3, and hopefully here for December 28 (according to dealer here in Canada).

I ordered my 2016 Transit Connect Wagon LWB XL on second week of August, on September 16th was notified it will not be picked up for production until October with a potential build date of October 12th, On October 9th I got the VIN number, end of November was able to print window sticker and saw the actual build date was October 28th, was told that it was on its last leg of the journey on November 19th in a rail yard, then dealer called rail yard on November 29th and found that it is in line for transport via convoy and they are 3-4 weeks behind. So I might get it before Christmas?

Update on my 2016 Ford Transit Connect Wagon order, just found out my vehicle has been at a rail yard less than 150 miles away since December 1st and they won't let my dealership pick it up, they claim they are running 3-4 weeks behind.
