Last year they had just one pre-production Transit prototype all roped off, while the Ram Promaster and just about every other vehicle there you could climb into and do whatever you pleased. In late July at EAA Airventure Oshkosh Ford had tons of vehicles on display that you could touch, but only one Transit luxury limo also roped off. In a different outdoor area designed for night time movie viewing there were two transits, but they were locked.
Does anybody know if this year's show in Detroit which starts today has a Transit you can climb into and play around? If so I will go, if not....no interest.

Thank you for starting a new thread for this topic. Hopefully posters here will respect your request for information about this show.

Here is a floor plan FYI:

The show's site does not disclose any details about Transits as far as I can find.

January 12-25, 2015 - North American International Auto Show

Ford F-150 Truck of the Year video:

The ongoing off-topic discussion (in the 3.5/3.31 MPG thread) about the new GT certainly would have dovetailed nicely into this thread, if anyone had taken the time to move over here . . .

It does have the 3.5 twin turbo V-6!

What a great location to discuss details of the show!

Don't mean to derail this thread, but since we're on the subject of EcoBoost (and MPG), look what Ford is bringing back, from a nine year hiatus:

The new GT is the sickest car Ford has ever made | The Verge

Always thought the GT was the most amazing sounding street legal car, not just the exhaust under acceleration, but the mechanicals at work even at idle. Wonder how this will compare, and what the MPG will be (hah - not something a buyer will worry about).

I want my Transit to sound like the GT...
My radio will have auxiliary in. The rest should be simple.
OK its public, the GT (600hp ecoboost V6) has dual fuel systems. GDI and port injection.
The port injection is better for low speed response, and washing the pcv contaminants off the intake valves. The GDI steps in for higher loads.
This is the ecoboost version 2, I have seen the engine, should be out in 2016.
The new Volkswagen GTI for 2015 has the same system, The GDI engines will all go this way.
This is how the problem is being corrected, current users of gen. #1 engine consider the filter/catch can system as Orton has noted (info on the F150 site)
Yeah, but which final drive is in it? And what kind of MPG does it get?....
The Fuel economy is part of the competion @ Le Mans, Ford won the race in 1967 and had the best fuel economy (another award)
Won the race in 1966,1967,1968,1969. Henry Ford 2 made a complete ASS out of Enzo Ferrari to the world.
They are going back the 50th year with the new car (GT) and the ecobeast V6
MPG is a important factor

Last August I went to the Great Minnesota State Fair, One of the largest in all of America, All the car makers had huge set ups with many different vehicles you could go through. Ford even had this promotion where you sat in each car and put in a code to see if you won the vehicle, (Now at the time my Transit was ordered for 3 1/2 months) So I wanted to see one bad. They did not have one there... So I asked one of the for guys why they didn't have the New Transit. He replied.... no room and because they had on there last year(obviously he was thinking Transit Connect) I walked away SMH.

No mention of any special Transit events by Michael Martinez in today's new article about the show in The Detroit News:

Ford unveils GT supercar, other performance vehicles

Detroit's other MM AKA Marshall Mathers AKA Eminem AKA Slim Shady made the news today for visiting a local dying kid.
As far as I can tell Martinez is still MIA.
Saw Mark Fields on the local news though being interviewed at the show.
I was screaming at my screen: " Release my Transit Mutha #$*&@!
Meanwhile Michigan's governor showed up despite tearing his Achilles tendon on Sunday in FL while training with his daughters for a 5K run.
He used a golf cart to get around, seemed to be taking it all in stride.
Gotta love ramblin' while nursing an IPA.....It's my thread!>:D

:)

Longboard Lager!
Actually when drinking Kona Brewing products I prefer Big Wave Ale to Longboard Lager, but it's sub zero here in Detroit so Founders Centennial Ale fits the bill a bit better.
Just hope I don't have a headache come morning.
Never know.....my dealer might call early telling me to come in with the check and a driver for my regular car.
Its a nice dream........
