I went to hook up a small utility trailer yesterday and hooked up the 4-way wiring. Went to check the lights so I put the headlights on and the emergency flashers. Tail lights work but not the turn signals. Hooked up my little tester and the problem is with the van. So off to the dealer it will go. Anybody have a similar problem? I checked the fuses.

I was borrowing the trailer so I'm not sure if it has led lights. I don't think so though. The problem is definitely with the van. I checked with a volt meter and also a plug in tester. I don't think they test this circuit at the factory because when I removed the cover their was a perfect "dollop" of dielectric grease on each pin.

My 7 pin works great. The dealer added the brake controller when I bought it so maybe something happened when they installed it.

i have a similar problem, i installed the factory Part No: FK4Z-15A416-A which is the trailer tow module wiring kit,(have not installed a brake controller yet)
into my 2016 transit t350, i have brake lights, turn signals and 12 volt power but i dont have running lights(2.volts on multimeter) Installed wiring splice from the socket from the back of vehicle to the supplied 7pin/4pin trailer hook up housing.
installed the supplied splice from socket near front door with the rubber boot into the drivers footwell to trailer tow module, added trailer tow module into the rear of drivers footwell and plugged the wires that were there into the controller, i removed the plastic bracket that was holding the 2 wires and bolted the trailer module into the drivers rear foot well.
what would cause the running lights not to work?

Thanks for the update Rick.

Surprises me, I installed the same kit and got full functionality without the trip to the dealer.

Brought into the dealer and they just told me there was a code stored in the system. They cleared it and said the 4-pin is working again.

The other thing I had them look at was adding the brake controller menu to the driver assist menu. I had the Ford brake controller added at the dealer after confirming it was already equipped with the 53B HD trailer tow package. The problem is there is no way to tell which gain setting I have it set at. According to my owners manual, when I push the + or - buttons the gain setting should be shown on the information display above the steering wheel. It should also beep when I disconnect the 7-pin but mine does not. The brake controller display is supposed to be in "menu/settings/driver assist" but it is not there for my van. I can sense the + and - buttons do change the braking power so I have been just setting it by feel. They had to call Ford to see if they can add it and when they heard back they were told it cannot be added and the brake controller can only be added at the factory. They believe that adding the brake controller is the reason the brake/turn lights failed on my 4-pin and I may experience another failure with it. He then suggested I install an aftermarket brake controller.

So this is really frustrating. I'm thinking of just living without the menu and using a 7-pin to 4-pin adapter if it does fail again.
