Hey, I've decided to try some magnetic, battery powered LED lights above the driver seat, for occasional reading at night. I've got light enough to read by in the back. But, sometimes the driver seat will be more comfortable. So, I want to stick a piece of steel onto the underside of the storage shelf. I keep my sun visor flipped down, so it will be out of the way. If I do need to stow the sun visor, thin metal will not get in the way.

It would be possible to screw a piece of steel to that shelf. But, I'd prefer stick-on. But, I can't think of where to source such a thing. I'm thinking of something about 4x9 inches, and about 1/16 in. thick. Ideas?

Another option is double sided tape to adhere the metal to the underside of the shelf. 3M makes a heavy duty tape.

Yes, I guess I may have to apply my own VHB, or other adhesive. But, I'd really like to find a manufactured piece, with finished edges, and either powder coat or baked enamel finish, etc. Something probably exists -- just need to figure out what I can re-purpose.

EddieZ,

From out in left field.

My son has a 1 piece metal ticket book holder, (possibly stainless steel) one end has an adjustable clamp (to keep tickets securely attached as he hands out the other copies >:D )

That might work, clamp it down on the edge of the shelf. He says you can find them at LEO uniform and supply stores. Just a thought.
