I have a write up with pictures and whatnot from when I changed the rear brakes on our DRW Transit. I have it written and I have pictures inserted. It's all in a Word document but it needs some work. Massive spaces on pages with pictures is the big thing. Is there someone that can help me work on this so it's more presentable and in a nice PDF format?

Why not just post the content directly to the forum instead of making a PDF?

If it's in the forum it will be searchable.

You can save your document as a PDF directlly from MS Word. Click save AS, click the drop-down arrow, and select PDF. I look forward to the post!

Also within Word I usually find it easiest to manipulate white spaces and images by placing the pictures either in front of or behind the text. Click the image, then go to the format tab (which only appears once the image is clicked), click on wrap text, and select behind text or in front of text and now the picture is "loose" on the page. You can also click a corner of a pic and resize it as needed, or crop it from the format menu. 0:)

If I copy it, none of the pictures come up when I paste it here.

I now have it saved as a PDF, but I don't know what I need to do to make it available here. I think the thing to do is to paste the text here, but have a link to the PDF somehow.

Thanks for the tip on resizing the pictures. I saw the squares on the pictures, but it didn't click for me that would resize them even though I know it. Kinda of a dumb moment there. Then I forgot about moving the corners to keep the aspect ratio, so they may not be exactly right, but they are close enough.

To show images in your forum posts do the following:

1) Upload images to http://imgur.com/ (free image hosting service)
2) Once uploaded look for the share options
3) Copy the Forum share option, it will look like this [i mg]http://i.imgur.com/MYVK1vH.jpg[/img]
4) Paste into your forum post

If you don't like the imgur service there are many others.

The thing is that I have it as a PDF now and to put them all in a post, I would have to go through the whole thing with about 20 pictures and insert each of them, individually. I'm looking for an easier way out. Also, if it's a PDF, it's easy to download and print and share.

So how do I share a PDF?

I think this site has a limit on PDF file size so PDF's can not be posted. Besides you will soon hit the data limits which eliminates any pictures posted directly into this site. An outside host site will be required.

Do not understand why this site's owners want to restrict the usefulness of their site. Guess they want to limit the amount of advertising income.

Or save your Word document in two halves and then export or print each as a PDF. It's a quick and easy work around, given that your document is ready to go.

Personally (when my van arrives) I'm going to use your PDF approach, but upload them to the Expedition Portal and then link to them here. I'm almost out of upload quota here already.

Due to this site's data and drawing posting limitations I was forced to create a separate Transit build site:

http://www.ortontransit.info/

Not something I wanted to do but did want to have all the information in one place. Now I can link to the specific information with pictures and drawings.
