I have a 250 the low roof extended, 3.5 with the 3.31 gears:). It is also Blue (which has 10 more hp than white:laugh:)

This van has exceeded my expecdations . The power is unreal, Had 2,500 lb. load and it was barely noticeable. The suspension squatted about 2"

Now for the fuel economy. I run snow tires and have been experiencing low temps. This combination is costing me between 10-15 %. I did manage to get 19 MPG on the Interstate doing about 68 MPH. come spring I can see this van getting 22 MPG:eek:

Next Sat. (the 10th) the van is going to the shop for its 1st oil change, I will be swithing to full Synthetic:), also I will be going on a 700 mile roadtrip from the shop, so I will moniter and changes in my MPG. I will report back Sunday evening

Mileage calculated by miles driven/gallons purchased or off the guage cluster?

Nokian Hakka. CR3's stock size and same load rating 3200# per tire. Had some snow and Ice last week, these tires are light years ahead of the OEM rim protectors:eek:, I originally had 75 PSI on all four tires, I took the back ones down to 60 PSI, I passed a few suv's on the road:D

Thanks. What an amazing technology for better grip!

Nokian Cryo Crystal Concept / Nokian Tires

How much more quickly do these wear than regular M&S snow tires like the Pirelli P7?

Do you plan on taking them off in the Spring?

[edit -- and switch to the Nokian WC Cargo per your other comment?]:

Looks like a good investment for your neck of the woods. I lived in New England years ago when studded snow tires were legal. I think it was a Dunlap 44 which made my clunky station wagon more like a 4WD SUV.

Well, I just hit 10,000 miles:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:, this van is a keeper:). The power could never exceed the load capacity. Had 3,700 Lbs and it was not even breaking a sweat

I did switch over to full synthetic, and I did notice on the temp gauge it is running a C hair cooler. I did a 30 mile run on the Interstate, I was empty with no wind. Set the cruise @ 60 MPH and I hit 23.4 MPG on the gauge:), granted theses are perfect conditions and no way could I average that out on a regular trip. However, the temps was about 20 degree's and I have snow tires on, guessing combined about 15% lose. I can see hitting 25 MPG on identical conditions, 22 MPG normal conditions

Next stop 20,000 miles mark (about April):):)

I swear by the use of winter tires because they double your traction on ice, snow, and even just cold temperatures when compared to all season M+S tires (should be the law just like in Europe) and I was not aware that there were any available for the Transit's load capacity, tire size, etc. Better yet, I have a Nokian dealer just a couple miles away! Thank you for this information!!!

Excellent news! Even if your lie-o-meter is off a couple mpg that is still very good. Mine is usually about 1+ over actual calculated.

I did the full synthetic change the other day but have not driven it much do see any temp difference.

I've been noticing that with a slight % grade the readout for mpg changes rapidly, even when it is not detectable to the eye. My daily commute starts at 920' MSL and ends at 700. Much higher "mpg" I-75 southbound than on my return home.
That 23 mpg w/o benefit of a tale wind might have been enhanced by a hundred feet or so of elevation change.

I get better overall mpg in hilly areas than on the flat since I have learned to gain speed going down, and baby it going up. Basically, I gain more going downhill than I lose going uphill.

I only use cruise control on flat land.

A knew a guy that described it as "attacking the hills". An attentive driver trying for fuel mileage can beat cruise control.

Ordered mine in Sep 2014 , heard that it was built on Jan 29th 2015 so of course no one knows when it will be delivered, but with only hopeful assumptions I'll be behind the wheel within 2 to 3 weeks
Your mileage caculations are great info for highway cruising. What have you recorded for city and combined use. This is my daily scenario and am looking to have a comparible in my logs when I get mine.
Also just to let you know I'd smoke you in a 0 to 60 challenge just because black is sleeker!

Welcome to the forum. FYI bbird's excellent highway cruising MPG, and others with the 3.5EB and 3.31 combo., are tracked on the following thread:
