I made this door stop from 0.1" aluminum stock from HD. I used a 1" spindle sander to make 5 indentations space 6 inches apart on a 30" x 1/2" bar. I used 3M double sided tape to stick it down. It works well and took me about 20 minutes to make.

I saw another thread where someone made a single stop that was 3" x 1/4" x 0.1" with a similar indentation for the roller to rest in. The thread referenced a commercial version from Traipsing About (http://www.traipsingabout.com/2014/04/28/sprinter-door-stop-for-sliding-door/).

I made a similar version that was only 2 inches long, but it fell off after a week of use. I suspect I needed more surface area for the double sided tape. I also wanted more stop positions for the door. So I made a much longer version with multiple stops.

I attached two images. One shows the full length of the installed bar. The other is a close up of two indentations and the end bevel.

Cheers,

It's not too bad too close. The wheel bumps slightly each time it hits an indentation. By pure chance, it takes about as much force to roll out of a bump from a standstill as it does to close the door. I like having the option to open the door and keep it open at different widths, depending on where I am.

Currently fabricating one, single stop. My only reservations about this project is the possibility of misalignment of the roller assembly over time. The one I am fashioning is substantially lower in profile thickness. Any issue's with the door thus far?
