I have been driving a med. roof transit for about 2 months now. Just the other day I noticed a couple small rust spots on the roof. I climbed up to inspect and it's like dimples, pushed outward. I haven't tried to pull the headliner but I'm assuming there's 2 bolts or something too long that almost went through the sheet metal. Has anyone else experienced this?

There is a thread in here with a horrible paint job, pics too. There are blisters with rust all over the doors, inside and out...A pillar, too. Dimples like you describe. I doubt it's attachment screws from the storage/headliner.

There was certainly a paint problem with that one, and the color white is suspect.

Search "Bad paint"... unless someone here links it up.

I have rust spots on the roof and I live in Oregon where cars don't rust. This is a big turn off for me and I am considering to get rid of this thing and never to look at a Ford again.

I had read somewhere that the white vans were more prone to rust. Something about a different paint process, or less overall pain. I don't remember where I read that.

Reading over blogs and threads in other forums for sprinters it's even a problem with a 50k sprinter.

LPS #3 will stop rust from happening -also stops rust dead in its tracks-

easy to brush on- thin - have not tried it but likely squirt from spray bottle-
mostly clear slightly brown color -
Dries to a non stick finish -Dust- Lasts Years -

but it is kind of slippery -

LPS#2 is Clear - not as long lasting as LPS#3
but works well -

Wouldn't any of this be covered in the warranty? Unless there is damage from a "hit", then I would think ford and dealer would take care of this....
My dealership told me to take it to their body shop whenever I find rust again. They fixed some spots before but I should not have to take a new van with 4000 miles to the body shop. Haven't owned any vehicles in the last 15 years that had rust issues. I assumed that was a thing of the past. Boy, was I wrong.

re: LPS #3

During my 1960-1976 seagoing career we ordered LPS 3 in spray cans. We coated all padlocks inside and out and used it in so many ways but the Master padlocks is the one that popped into my mind. Good stuff.

Yes it should be covered under warranty. The difficult part is being without my van. Last time I left it for 3 days and all they did was replace the windshield(a separate problem). They didn't even get started on the paint work. Now I'm trying to find a few more days to be without my van.
Something inside had to push the sheet metal outward. It's not just rust spots. It's 2 bumps.
