I am trying to build subwoofer box for my XLT wagon and need some dimensions. The van is factory finished and I was hoping someone with a cargo van with unfinished walls could help me out.
I am considering the 3 voids under the window/panel behind the driver's seat wall. I've attached a scan of the location. I would also need to know the overall depth of the openings from the inside face of the metal framing to the outer wall of the van. I would be happy to share my designs when complete.
Many thanks in advance! Tony G

Wow, there is a whole 8" lost on the interior width?! Imagine the space they could create with a little better use of frame and materials! Seems like they could gain at least 4", which would make it wide enough for most people to lay down cross-ways; the holy grail of camper conversions.

I believe one of the reasons the Transit body is more rigid than my sold 08 Sprinter is the wide box sections on the lower walls. Also there is a substantial tube assembly above the slider and the same on the driver side. Do not recall that kind of reinforcement in the same area of the Sprinter body. Do know that the Transit entering our diagonal driveway has considerably less twist in the body.

If you put the bed platform across the rear of the van at about 30" elevation, you can get a 74" long bed. I limited the insulation to 1" in the two window indents. I did not think sleeping slightly diagonal in the Sprinter would be a problem. It was, so do appreciate a 4" longer bed platform in the Transit.

I also appreciate the major improvement in handling. Besides a stiffer body, I suspect the more conventional front end suspension also helps.
