Is it OK to make a battery tender connection to the starter battery via either the CCP or, say the cigar lighter plug?

as i remember, a ford tech at a dealership when asked about hooking up battery tender to the CCP said no, in the original thread where a forum member told this story from his trip to the dealership.

my guess at the time was perhaps there was some confusion with the tech as to what a battery tender really is, all the tech heard was battery charger and thought about the charger boosting a weak transit battery and said no. (a 100 amp boost and the 60 amp fuse)
I think that's pretty much it. They say to go to the battery with the positive or to the access point under the hood. I went to the battery at the positive buss bar on the pre fuse box so I didn't have to run more wire. It's pretty much the same as if you ran it up front. I actually get all my positive connections there now. Much cleaner, but you must fuse them or use a breaker. Must is probably the wrong term, should is better.

I suspect the reason FORD is so restrictive sounding in the BEMM and other up fitter pubs is an attempt at keeping the vehicles wiring as close as possible to factory which in turn increases the odds of successful troble shooting at dealer service centers.

If the after market came before the market, I'm sure things would be different.
