It seems like all the transits I looked at had LED lights in cargo area except the one I bought. I'm wondering if I can just swap out these regular ones to the LED's?

You can certainly swap out incandescent bulbs for LEDs.

There are sites online that sell automotive LED bulb replacements that are plug-n-play.

Pull out a bulb, grab the stats and fit the match.

Or contact dealer, perhaps they offer the LEDs if you wish to keep it all stock/OEM.

Does the cargo LED option add more lights or just sub LED's for incandescent?

For vans, rear compartment lighting is standard. Rear compartment LED lighting, package 85D ($70), would seem to replace the incandescent.
Thanks, I ordered it and had assumed extra lights, probably cheaper to upgrade aftermarket if it's just a bulb swap.

I did have after market 10X5 LED bar with two rows of bulbs on my old van and it was not as bright as Ford LED. Ford LED about 60% brighter worth every penny. I got 4 of them and it is so bright!

LED option adds more lights, at least that's what they tell me

I had asked why I only had one light over the rear cargo doors when there is obviously a place for a second one. Dealer replied that on my model (regular WB, med roof) the other light only comes with the LED option.

Not sure if I trust the answer, but there you go.

Yeah like a dealer's salesperson would actually know a detail like that.
I'd bet he made it up on the spot to pacify you like a good salesman would.
You know who would REALLY have the answer?
Remember Aaron over in Lapeer Michigan?
He told us "Ask away!"
Right Peter?

Wow, it's bright in there at night! With windows all around, even with privacy glass, you can light up a parking lot when you hit the unlock button on the key. Before I got the van I was thinking of adding a work light on the inside of the rear doors to help with loading at night. That's not going to be necessary. I like it though. You stealth camping guys are definitely going to want to wire in a switch.

My transit has (4) incandescent bulbs. Really good amount of light. I noticed most other transits only had (1) light. My salesman said to get more lights, I needed to order the LED package? Not true in my case. The window sticker makes no mention of optional lighting package either.

Side Note: With the rear and slider doors closed, my dome light switch controls the cargo lights. When I open the cargo doors, the dome light switch only controls the dome light. Weird.

Looking at your pic my LED light is least 70% brighter.

Yes, the led's are much brighter. Being that I expected 1 light and recieved 4 is what impressed me. I may install LED bulbs in the future. My old 250 Savanah had 1 light. That was inadequate no matter what.
I guess extra at no charge never hurts 0:). I am a little bit crazy about LED light so I am changing almost all bulbs for LED and HID.

I am a flashaholic, CandlepowerForum user. My work headlamps are h600fw zebralights (1070lm on my forehead).

What LED'S would you suggest as drop in's for the transit?

Plenty of guidance in earlier threads:

You may have to add in-line switches according to your needs.

Someone here stated that you can turn cargo lights on/off with the 3 position switch above the driver/passenger seats that control the cab lights if the doors are all closed. Hopefully that is the case because I want to use the lights to light up the conversion. I have played with that switch with the sliding door open but that does not work. Will try with the door closed the next time I am in a van. Hopefully in my van since I should have it next week.
Will relocate the lights to the van centerline. If switch does not operate lights with door closed I will attempt to add a 3 position switch to the light circuit. One position to disconnect the lights from 12 v., one to connect to existing Transit power and the third position to connect house 12 v. power to the lights.
