You have lots of choices - what you mentioned would work - also attaching something to it will help. In my experience there is no right or wrong answer, try some things and see what works. In the end some combination will likely be best.

 

If you haven't bought it already, look at a composite partition. Mine is silent and does an excellent job of isolating sound from the rear.

Thanks for the reply. I looked at those but 2 things stopped me. I need that little "doggy door" on the weather guard unit for 12' material that we need to keep on the truck now and then. Plus the cost difference was substantial
