And I am so much happier with this new van. Went from a 2015 low roof 350 with an anemic 3.7 that was getting 14.5 mpg average per tank to a new 2016 mid roof 350 with the ecoboost. Tons more power, no more downshifting to get over every anthill-size incline in the road, and the mileage on the same trip that would normally net 15.5 was 18.4 according to the dash readout. Going through town it got up to 20.3, which I've never seen with the other van.

It's a lot easier to get up to speed in traffic, too... No more revving it to the moon to get up to speed. I don't think I ever even got past 20% throttle on the on ramp coming home, and it had plenty of muscle to get it to 65.

I love the Eco Boost engine. I have the high roof and this is my daily driver. And I never get tired of driving it. It just has a ton of power.

Quick question for you since you have the high roof. Is the shelf thing above the driver's and front passenger's heads supposed to have some kind of rubber mat or something in the bottom of it to keep stuff from sliding around up there? The one in our van doesn't have anything in it but a bunch of green marks on the plastic floor of the shelves, which seems to me to indicate that there should be something in it to cover up the marks.

yah the beauty of the ecoboost is not having to get into the pedal too much to move you along. Just light pressure and off it goes. I've driven too many vehicles you have to really lean on the gas pedal to make it move. My F150 with a 5.0 was easy to drive, so when I bought a van I did not want to go backwards in terms of power.

It's just funny that now with the ecoboost transit, it has better performance specs than my commuter car. My wife thinks my little Mazda3 is "too quick" when she drives it (and honestly it's not at all), but I bet the first time she really gets into the gas hard in the new van it's going to really surprise her.

The sprinter we had before the 2015 transit was pretty gutless, too, but that transit with the 3.7 was just flat-out weak. It worried me when getting out into traffic and there was any kind of incline on the on ramp, especially when I had all the family in it. That extra 900 lbs of people plus the incline just made it a slug.

I still get animated when people ask me about the Transit and the 3.5L engine. People just do not understand how powerful it really is until they drive one. I can put 2 roadrace motorcycles and 600+lbs of gear in the van then tow a trailer with 3 more bikes in it and the T350 gives zero phucks! It does not care at all about the weight and my mileage barely suffers as well even on the hilly terrain of the California mountains. Absolutely amazing engine with just the right balance of acceleration versus torque matched to the gearing.
