"Overall, the 2014 Ford Transit is nothing short of amazing. We just can't say enough about the new Transit, and want to pass the word along to all of our friends and neighbors. Come on in to Athens Ford and see the new 2014 Transit. Hope to see you soon!"

Is this to be believed?

They probably are referring to the Transit Connect, dealers can be very obtuse.

I am surprised that neither the NV200/Chev, or the Transit Connect can fit any 4'x8' sheet goods. The Ram CV can & it is an older design.
Nope....I guess not...

"Hello Scott,

We do not have a Transit on the lot yet. I would be happy to call you when I get one if you would like. They have started taking orders for them so I am guessing not too long from now.

I still think he is referring to the Transit Connect.
Yesterday I stopped at a local Ford dealer & spoke to the commercial sales manager. He had no information about Transit pricing, & was extremely reluctant to talk about when they will be available. He mentioned the disappointment some of his fleet buyers have had because of the delays, & how at least 1 fleet customer has bought Sprinters to replace their Econolines. "When I can put my hands on one, I'll know they are available", is what he told me.
He did say that Transit Connects were in the pipeline & would be arriving soon.
The sales person I spoke to was relating some of the frustration his fleet customers have regarding the delayed Transit. I can appreciate his not wanting to give a time frame for their availability, when giving one in the past has been so far off for this vehicle. I am sure it will be summer before they are available. Not sure why he didn't have pricing information, this dealer has a good size commercial sales dept.
Silver color $150. Why does MB get $1000 for that in a Sprinter? I guess because suckers like me were willing to fork it over.
I think MB is going to see serious market erosion once the PM & Transit get fully into the market. The competition should be good for consumers, maybe even get that silver color option more realistically priced.
Daimler in Europe is huge into the large transport game. Plenty of revenue streams...
I'm not suggesting that Sprinter competition will bring Mercedes to it's knees. They have had a section of the US commercial van market (tall & long) mostly to themselves, & shortly will have another competitor, Ford, that will take some of their sales, PM & Nissan will also take some of their sales & I think this combination of competitors will impact Sprinter sales. They have about 10% of the van market, I would not be surprised to see Sprinter with 7-8% in a couple of years.
