Im thinking about getting an upfitter to do a few camper mods to my transit. Does anyone have experience with Colorado Camper Van - Loveland Colorado. Or any other upfitter in Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma or NM. Im in Amarillo Texas. Thanks

This is not my personal opinion, just sharing the link.
That looks like one to run away from, based on morey's post. Goodness.
Ouch. Looks like CCV is going to lose many potential customers over that.
I read that entire thread, just for the train wreck. The business owner and his manager did respond, yet, not satisfactorily. They kept focusing on the needed refinishing - still unresolved - while the fit and mechanics of the top were clearly wrong, and, as was pointed out, should be addressed before the finish. That place has NO idea how much business it's lost over that one install... though several guys in the thread said they were changing plans, including one who had been set to do TWO vans.

My transit is currently having the CCV poptop installed. I did lots of research, got a tour and recommendation from a trusted friend that has one on his e-series Sportsmobile, and toured their place before dropping off my van. Take that thread with a grain of salt. The CCV top is widely viewed as the best. The problem is that the company is swamped with business, and that the owner Derek is not reliable over email.

Mine will be the third Transit. They have done countless Econolines, some Promasters, and many Sprinters.

I presumably pick mine up this Friday and will try to give you all an update.

Any other builders/upfitters that you know of that do good work. I hate to drive across country for installs but might just have to take a vacation.
Our van was built by Van Specialties in Tualatin, Oregon. Great company and staff to work with. Our rig was built to our spec.
Stevigee: I'm having Sportsmobile in Austin do my interior. They are doing quite a few Transits now, and still many Sprinters. You can have them do a little or a lot, pick from standard plans or design your own.

I'll have to contact them. I wasn't for sure if they did part builds.

In researching pop top vs high roof options for a camper conversion I've seen several threads like this at the sportsmobile forum. There are also those that say CCV does excellent work and who are very happy with the result.
If you're trying to get something done on the cheap, do it. If you want QUALITY, DON'T DO IT. I discussed with Derek how I wanted things done, and he agreed, only to use SHEETROCK SCREWS for my walls and ceiling- instead of RivNuts. Dented my roof when they installed my Maxxair fan- AND DIDN'T TELL ME. When I asked them about it, he said, "Oh those are easy to rub out from the inside". If they are that easy, then WHY DIDN'T HE RUB THEM OUT WHEN IT HAPPENED??? Instead, they thought I wouldn't go up there, and tried to hide it from me. They cut the platform bed to the WRONG LENGTH, and I waited another hour and a half while they "threw something together", and again, screwed them into nothing on the other side of the wall. Shotty work.
I will NEVER go back to CCV(unless it's to collect a "damages check" from them. Want a great company to deal with in the Denver Area? Check out the guys at TouRig(www.mytourig.com) Great work, and they'll be completing the rest of my build.
Does anyone who has used Colorado Camper Van, Mytourig or Sportsmobile-Austin within about the last year have any good or bad experiences that that they could share? I am considering them as possibilities to use as upfitters. Am also interested in suggestions on other companies, esp. any in the Rocky Mountain region.
Thnkas.

Yes to TouRig, No to CCV. Just TALK to each one, and you should immediately get an idea about what kind of company you're dealing with.

All solid evidence to build your own IMO. None will build it truly to your spec which is why I bought a cargo to start from scratch.

It may not end up perfect but it will be all mine.

Hi ACF1. See my PM. I'm near Boulder, have a Quigley Transit, CCV did the top last summer, SMB completed the build in Nov.

I've been meaning to create a build thread but things have been crazy.

When I was thinking about using a up fitter, I came across Vanworks. I don't have any first hand experience with them but in I beleive there in Ft.Collins. You might research them, if I remember right I was told they were more reputiable than Colorado Camper Van. I would try and find someone who has had work done by them.
