My parents' 2006 Audi does that as well. Only takes a momentary touch to the start position.
Problem is, I've gotten used to driving my girl's '08 Mini Cooper. With the wireless key and push button start. When I drive it for a few days its a bit odd to go back to my '99 Audi and have to unlock the car, and have the key out of my pocket.
