HI everyone, I just got my 2015 Low Roof, 350 wagon xlt Diesel, long wheelbase.

Very happy with it, but Not happy with the small screen !!! at all.
( I will report MPG every week from now, stay tunned)

Any ideas on how to install a big screen on the dashboard ? Any kits in the market yet ?
I'm very concerned on keep the OEM look or the most aesthetic look.
(I don't like the portable solution with cables tuning all over the place.)

Is possible to purchase the OEM big screen and get installed it ?

I'm not concerned about budget here. Thank you all for keeping this forum alive !:)

kayabusa,

When I was talking with tadibrothers about their 3 camera system, that has a 7 or 9" screen, I asked about would it be possible to get the nav stuff from a hand held unit onto the screen also. They advised that using a spliter cable, you could import what you wanted onto the larger screen. So, stands to reason you could possibly have either Ford (so you don't void any warranties), or a nationwide stereo shop divert the info to a larger screen of your choice located where you want it. You have a LR so I don't think you have a shelf above dash, like MR & HR. They have a perfect place to mount on the underside right in front of the rear-view mirror. That's where I will be mounting my screen, no need for the mirror (looking back through the whole vehicle and past the rear door pillars) when I will have an always available and on, rear camera showing. Unless, the mirror is used to give warning stares to children acting up in the back.

Worth checking in to.

Thanks SEMPER,

I'm looking where a 7" -9" would fit.... Difficult without making a custom dashboard.
Kayabusa,

Just a thought, the VA vans that transport me around for appointments all have a floor mounted stand with their computer system (the same as many cabs have) for communicating with dispatch for telling them where the next pickup or drop off is with nav in it. Maybe something like that. Separate from the dash.

I noticed the 4" screen was a joke when using the back up camera during a demo drive and I already didn't want any functions using the display since I prefer aftermarket nav, radio, etc. My plan is to order base radio, remove it and install a Pioneer DVD, nav, radio with camera input and the higher cover Ford uses in their high end radio option. Cheaper and superior than what Ford offers.

Update

I will try to figure out what to do with the ugly 4": screen and the horrible radio and let all know about it.

Meanwhile if anyone have any ideas or face plate to adapt a double din stereo let me know please.

Hey SR75, are you planning to change the whole radio and 4" with the one used on the 6" screen and adapt a double din Pioneer ? please let me know how to do that and which parts are necessary in order to do that. Thank you.

In guessing there will be an aftermarket double DIN bezel available before too long. That should make the swap fairly easy. I agree the backup camera display is way too small, but I'm pretty happy with the audio quality compared to some of my other vehicles.

Kayabusa - I haven't bought a transit yet to know which of the 3 radios and 3 different plastic covers I would start with. Preference is a custom order with basic radio and shelf top, remove the radio and measure how much room there is. Worst case is buying taller plastic from Ford.
