Im gearing up for my conversion and looking for good info on gray tank install under the van. Does anyone have any good pictures of their install. Mainly I would like to know the size of hole drilled, where its located and the fittings used. Im thinking just a small tank about 8-12 gal, my galley will be located on driver side behind front seat. Front seat, fridge, and sink. I have a HR med length diesel. Thanks

One thing to keep in mind is how it is plumbed. You can eliminate the sink trap if you put the grey water tank inlet in the bottom of the tank instead of the top. I use 1" ID rubber hose for the drain line straight down through the floor from the sink. The first drain water fills the hose to create a "trap". A RV is different than a house because it has a tank.

I have not yet had the 14 ga. SS tanks fabricated. Sprinter conversion had the same arrangement.

Another hint is not locating the inlet at the front of the tank. It has been known to create an unpleasant "little faithful" when the brakes are applied. My inlet will be in the middle of the tank.

I put RainPro Solid Brass Rain Barrel Bulkhead Fitting, 3/4 Inch (outside) 1/2" threaded inside Straight Pipe Threaded, fittings from Amazon to breach the floor in the flat section just forward of the C pillar on the drivers side. Then used 1/2" plastic Banjo brand hose/pipe fittings on each side of the bulkhead fitting. I used the brass fittings (with polyurethane caulk rather than the provided rubber washer) rather than plastic Banjo fittings because the brass fittings require a smaller hole (1-1/8 or 1-1/4 inch, I recall). Tank was fitted just forward of where the pipes came through. I made my own epoxy plywood tanks but have found examples of purchased poly tanks on some of the DIY pages here. Tank design has fill on lower aft side, vent on top, with multiple baffles. I have never managed to post pictures of that part of the install. Not sure if I ever took them either.

I used an electrician's 1 3/8" dia. knock out punch for the floor hole. Ran the 1" OD rubber hose (a little less than 1 3/8" OD) through the hole. Welded 1" OD SS tee to the bottom edge on the tank side. The sink hose used a hose clamp on one side of the tee and a second 1" hose is routed to a ball valve for the tank drain. A 3/4" copper tee is in the run from the sink to the tank for the shower drain. The OD of the copper tee is the correct diameter for the 1" drain hose. A 1/2" OD SS elbow is welded to the top edge of the tank for the vent/overflow.
