In 2016 I planned for replacing it when I started building my camper, I had read stories about people having the rip out their whole kitchen to replace it.
LOL... Except, Ford owned and controlled 4 of the 5 Jaguars I have left, and they all have proven to be very very reliable and exceptionally well built compared to our Tin-can Transits. Wiring and harnesses on my Jaguars, are 100% Ford5 Jaguars - various models and years.

Seems as though you should be used to bad engineering of electrical systems and parts.![]()
The Jags, Ford or otherwise, were substantially more expensive per cubic foot and aimed at buyers that were willing to pay for quality more than fleet and commercial buyers.LOL... I see that in 2019, the switch could be purchased for under $10.00. In 3+ years, the price has doubled. I am sure there is no greedflation involved.I am not finding that kitchen/door switch thread but that door switch was a popular subject in the early days, Many people just unplugged it so their cargo lights would stay off.

Rear passenger side sliding door - ajar switch
Where's the switch? I got the door fixed -- well, at least it closes and the paint is fixed. But now the door ajar warning flashes at bumps and around curves! The interior lights come on ... It goes off, but it's not right. I tried the three connection points on the door jam and on the door...www.fordtransitusaforum.com
Did you hear about the time they shut down the country in a knee jerk reaction to a new strain of an old virus? And paid people more to stay home than they would make working?I see that in 2019, the switch could be purchased for under $10.00. In 3+ years, the price has doubled. Now of $11.33 on Lasco so 5% per year increase (not 5.4% ... cuz compounding)Did you hear about the time they shut down the country in a knee jerk reaction to a new strain of an old virus? $14. and change from Rock Auto. Not doubled.
Gross profit is not a particularly good measure for the financial performance a business that has high fixed costs/overheads. Net income is more meaningful ... especially over the long run ... you know ... bottom line?? Neither necessarily has a strong correlation to pricing since it is highly dependent on volume. Of course in the short run there can be all sorts of financial shenanigans or other non recurring transactions ... see $800M profit in 2022 on sale of remaining stake in Rivian. BTW - not sure where they stand these days, but IIRC the financial arm, not auto sales is where F has made a lot (most?) of their profit for many years. You'd need to dig into the financial statements to get a handle one that.record profits
