Hello all

From alaska..I mean new england(boston)

working on a deal for a 2015 transit 250 med roof(130" wheel base)

Worrying about stock tires for winter around here..switching from 06 chevy 3500 express w/6.6 turbo diesel(never really benefitted from the diesel) low miles/hours

Would love to hear about others experiences with these newer style vans.. tires ,etc..Im planning on taking racks, divider etc..out of chevy and modifying them to fit in transit..anyone try this?

thanks in advance for any info

Yes....I am using stock Hancook's. I have ltd. slip.....drives fine in snow. Need to turn off the Traction control though as it will just lock up your rear end if on incline in snow and you are slipping at all. Other than that....it drives fine. I usually have enough weight so that helps in snow.....as you know, nothing helps on ice. I have always done without snow tires, and just use good all season's. I lived in Colorado for 7 years, and Nebraska for another 7....and now 8 years in NH, so I know how to drive in all kinds of fun and unusual weather. Have never gotten stuck or otherwise.....just be smart. Drive slow and know where you intend to go.

I am researching Transits too, but from the opposite coast. I have been drooling over Nokian tires for my Subaru, so went to see what they have for the Transit.

In fact there are 3 models currently available in the US Nokian line sized at 235/65R16C, Load index 121/119 R CARGO, rated for 106 mph and 3200 pounds:

WRC Cargo is their all-weather model, suitable for all year but it still gets the "mountain/snowflake" symbol for winter use.

Hakkapeliitta CR3 is the studless winter model.

Hakkapeliitta C3 is the studded model, appears to be replacing the Hakkapeliitta C Cargo.

Hey!
Many thanks for the quick response!!

Any negatives?

Model Im looking at is the just basic model with 3.7l 130" wheel base..should I be concerned?

Do you mind if I ask what you paid for the model you are driving(premium package) and did you purchase here in new england?

No negatives yet....I havent gotten the gas mileage I hoped for, but it was a fantastic buy for my uses. I drove Ram which was loud, and buddy bought the NV by Nissan....of course his only cost about 26K. The transit drives the best...no doubt.

I bought mine in Dover, NH but they did dealer trade somewhere in NY to get it since I wanted upgrades and there weren't any around NH. I have aluminum wheels, I have the Ranger solid stainless sliding door cargo which was paid for by my 1500 upfit rebate, I have leather, limited slip, premium pack, wanted 3.73 axle but there weren't any....and I cant remember what else. I also gave my 1500 rebate to get the 2.9%....that saved me like an additional 2700....my sticker price before the upfit(cargo cage) was 42,400 and I paid about 39,350.....500 over invoice. I put zero down.....and this should save me quite a bit on taxes.

I also got the Limited slip differential, My Brand new Transit is currently stuck in the snow at my new house.... Kinda my fault, I had to turn around and backed into about 1/2 a foot of snow on a slight incline, Thinking I could test the Differential out, WRONG!!! I have not read the manual yet, I didnt know you could shut it off because I think I could get out if I just gave it a little... I am super busy in the middle of a move and it was late so I just left it. got about 10 miles down the road in my old van and realized I left an un opened can of Pepsi in my new ride, had to turn around because they will explode in the cold up here. After this move I will get it lettered and up lifted and give my review soon.

You can't turn off the LSD, but you can turn off the traction control.

Cheers,
Dave/
