Has anyone seen a graph showing the amperage output from the HD alternator at different rpm's? I want to know what output to expect at idle. Also would be nice to know how much amperage the Transit requires at idle. What I really want to know is how much unused amperage is available to run my vehicle powered 1000 watt inverter at idle. Looking at a Sprinter graph I can see the output increases rapidly up to 1000 rpm and then the rate of increase starts to level off. Transit probably has a similar output curve.

Thank you. looks like I need at least 1500 rpm for my vehicle powered inverter.

Orton, did you take into account the difference between engine and alternator speed in RPMs? It's a big difference, and all curves seem to be based on alternator speed, not engine speed.

If your inverter needs about 100A of power, then it should be within the capabilities of the 230A or 250A heavy-duty options below 1500 engine speed, provided the van is not using significant power for other needs.

It'd be nice in my opinion if Ford offered a second alternator option. That would be my personal preference.
