Hi I thought I read somewhere about a parking brake relocation kit but I can't seem to find it. I rarely use the parking brake if ever and I would love to have that floorspace back for a cooler or some other use. Thanks

MOTOXhauler,

Mine was removed and replaced with a electric push button, in the dash, by my mobility up fitter. Expensive, but was required and the VA paid for it. Thought I saw something while researching availability, of just relocating wiring & handle to under the dash, but not real sure.

I did a passenger seat swivel from and there was nothing to it, so after reading the above post and thinking about not wanting to have a higher seat then necessary, I took the driver seat (not powered) and took a look at the ebrake install. No problem for moving it down. I ordered another swivel from Swivelsrus, lowered the ebrake, installed the swivel, re-installed the seat and viola! Tis done. Very easy and straight forward. The hardest part was trimming the lower plastic shroud to fit back on over the brake. I just took my time and its pretty good....no complaints from the boss.

Since Ford already announced they were making a change to 2017 Transit to make it easier to move to back of van, I think I would wait to see what they revise. Whatever they do, it may involve the emergency brake. I'm just guessing though because the emergency brake is so much in the way.

I agree with Greg -- Ford dropped the ball in this part of design. Even though E-Series has a huge engine doghouse, getting in and out of seats is much easier. And when seats swivel back you don't feel like you're sitting on floor (since E-Series has flat floor).

I totally agree - the E-brake location is terrible. It's such a hindrance moving from the driver seat to the back of the vehicle.

(i had to modify link because the forum rules aren't letting me post it. remove spaces)

I think I'll try it when i get some bandwidth (which may be awhile).

re: Very poor planning on ford's part.

I wonder what commercial users especially those with a partition think? I am under impression these are commercial vehicles?

i could care less about the E brake handle, its got a nice long handle, seems easy to operate, plus i knew i was buying a commercial vehicle when i bought it! (walk thru partition, camper conversion, no swivel seat, size 13 shoe)

I plan on moving mine. I don't think it would be that difficult.
I hope you are right! In the olden days I would totally agree. But now 'adays, multiple computer sensors seem to be attached to every function of the vehicle. You never know when a seemingly benign modification is going to throw 20 computer errors:)
