Received by VIN: 1FBZX2XGXGKB21574 for the Transit ordered three weeks ago here in Florida. It is a LWB 350 XLT Wagon 350, 12 seats (which are for sale), EcoBoost, 3.5 limited slip, dual batt., inverter, etc. - along with all the goodies except remote start.

I will wade through all the posts about VIN look-up on ETIS.

Wondering now if I should have it picked up and serviced by Matt Ford to save the time and potential damage from rail shipment, not to mention the time required.

Anyone know about changing ordering dealer/pick-up, etc. at this stage.

I was also wondering if one can save on "delivery" costs by picking it up from a nearby dealer such as Matt Ford? For example, I am in Washington State.
If I run the whole purchase process through Matt Ford do I save any on destination charges?

My original order was through a dealer here in OKC, OK. My current order is through Matt Ford and I'll pick it up there. Both order sheets show the same $1195 for Dest & Delivery.

Getting your Transit through Matt Ford in Kansas City (actually in Buckner, MO approximately 24 miles from the plant) will not save any destinations charges as it is done as a overall USA destination average and is listed on the window sticker. You will possibly save money on his pricing since he is giving forum owners a better price break as he does not have to floor plan the Transit. You will save on the transportation time as he normally gets his Transit deliveries 7 to 10 days after the Transit is released by Quality Control and listed on ETIS versus waiting for the Railroad to load the Transit for shipment to your area, then offloading it at the Regional Distribution Center located near your dealer and then transported by flat bed trailer to the receiving dealer. RandomJoe had some options added to his Transit that required offsite installations which has held his delivery past the 10 day time frame.

Your best bet is to get a copy of the 2016 Ford Transit Order Guide or wait until the 2017 Edition is released and come up with your Transit order and email it to Ryan Matt and see what pricing he gives you. Then take the same order (with option codes and descriptions) to your local Ford dealer and see if they can meet or beat the price. In some cases, the price difference will offset the expense you will incur by making the trip to KC to pickup the Transit. In one case, a Houston Ford dealer's price was $1700 higher than Matt Ford, so making the flight from Houston to KC ($102) and driving back 755 miles was still cheaper in the end. The BIG advantage is working with a dealer that knows about the Transit, communicates to you about your order, and keeps you informed with any changes involved during the build process. You may even get some of their special KC BBQ when you arrive to get your Transit!

While I didn't end up going through Matt Ford, I did contact him on CrewVanMan's recommendation and was very impressed with Ryan Matt's personal attention and very quick email responses. Would certainly agree it is worth reaching out to Matt Ford. His price was good, the delta certainly covering a plane ticket and return gas, but it was the hard to quantify time of driving from Missouri back to Maryland that made me decide to go through my local dealer.

I have tried the past several days. Still getting a 'not released yet' PDF back. Build date wasn't exactly 20 June but was told week of 20 June. But I expect it in the couple of days.

I appreciate you following up.
