Tell me about plasti-dipping wheels. Mainly, just curious. I was in Lowe's the other day, and guy was checking out with what seemed to be a lot of Plasti-dip de-glosser, or some such. I asked what he was doing with so much Plasti-dip, and, he said he'd done his wheels with it. "Huh. That's a new one on me."

Do you really dip it, or, do you paint it on? How thick? How durable? How expensive? Doesn't it degrade with UV exposure?

I was thinking of doing the grill black too. Having any luck removing it? Plastidip is a really versatile product, I've seen entire cars done in it. Yes, you spray it on... one light coat, for some adhesion, and then a heavy one to create the film. That's how I've always done it.

I had to take the front grill out of my 350 HD a month ago to mount some small square driving lights in behind it on the rad braces and had to remove the bumper and grill as one piece. Lots of clips to get it done but doable.

As long as you can get paper or plastic in between the grill and radiator. You don't have to remove the grill to coat it with plasti dip. Just peel off excess/overspray check out some youtube videos on it. My wheels on my truck have been plasti dipped since November before last and still look good.

Ok, removing the bumper/grill does seem pretty tedious for not much reward so I'll likely paint it in place. The hub caps came out great. I did 4 or 5 coats so I imagine it will be pretty durable.
