.I bought a 250 MR 148 WB in silver with the 3.7L and 3.73 limited slip rear. I am an audio producer and I use it to haul medium sized shows. It has exceeded all my expectations. Light years ahead of the E-250 it replaces. The engine is pretty smooth, but the 6R80 transmission is a great box when it finishes learning your driving habits

Supermover,
And those of you who already have your Transit, how is the front window situation.
Meaning the narrow up and down width, can you sit comfortably and rest your arm on the sill? Or is it only in certain seat positions?

USMC Vet, I had the same concern and checked out a local Transit about this. Surprisingly the seats are inboard enough that it would be difficult to get a trucker's tan with an elbow out the window. Each door in fact has an ample arm rest below the window opening, which fit me quite well. The new episodes of American Pickers on the History Channel have a new Transit in them, and it is easy to see Frank and Mike with their arms comfortably on the the arm rests while cruising down the road.

Now, if they could get those huge front fixed panels in the doors to swivel open like the old wing vents. I read someplace that this would be an option down the road, but not sure where I saw it.

I had the same reaction about the armrest on the door panel. Whoever designed this should be applauded. Works very well. Also liked the steering wheel position and the smaller diameter steering wheel. Found the driving position/comfort better than my 08 Sprinter. Even has a water temperature gauge!

Also agree that pivoting wind wings like old cars would be a great addition. If Ford does not offer then maybe they will be available from the aftermarket. I would buy.

The shape is challenging, but recalling my 1970 E150, the vent windows had top and bottom aligned pivot hinges about 1/3 of the back way from the front edge/corner. Build it and they will come . . .

When cranked all the way open, they forced welcome fresh air onto the driver and passenger. Pre-A/C this was huge.

PeterR,
Thanks for the info. Saw the size from the pictures everyone has posted and had some doubts about function.

You are welcome. Funny, as I thought about my first test drive, the arm rest was so comfortable that I did not even notice not being able to stick my elbow out the window easily.

SuprMover, by any chance do you have rear A/C in your van? Questions are being asked on other threads about the plastic housing for the rear A/C. kingkabong posted a good photo of a Wagon's rear A/C FYI:

Thanks for any feedback or thoughts, for instance whether you might have decided not to have the rear A/C because of its interference with loading cargo.

no rear AC

this is a cargo van with an Adrian Steel bulkhead, so no rear AC. After doing a few more shows with it, I find this van to be much easier to load thanks to its good rear step in height.

Upfit

Has anyone found a good up fit package to cover the walls and ceiling? I want to get mine covered before I put it to work. I am interested in covering all the walls, insulation, ceiling cover, and installing e trac.
