Like the way you think. Any photos?Front mud guards as close to the ground keeps the front wheels from setting up nails for the rear flats, any kind of vehicle type. I always run and backs. Keeping it clean and dent free just cinches the deal for me. It's definitely a first-get accessory on any vehicle imo.
Large stiff cheap rubber truck flaps from the auto parts store works great for best coverage: and just trim to wishes.

For those who have the front mud / splash guards, do they help keep the dirt away from the passenger door side step?
I live on a dirt road so quite a bit of dirt builds up there.
