Front mud guards helpful?

For those who have the front mud / splash guards, do they help keep the dirt away from the passenger door side step?

I live on a dirt road so quite a bit of dirt builds up there.

Bummer...Flaps

I WAS surprised to see the collection of muddy frozen water on my running boards this last week on a trip to the Allegheny National Forest : (

The WeatherTech flaps didn't do a great job at keeping the debris off the boards and we had to be cautious exiting the truck : (
