Just got a call from Matt Ford concerning my 2017 Transit that was just released from Quality Control on 11/11. I was showing it ready for delivery on my information system and Matt Ford had it showing on ramp ready for delivery, expecting it this week at their dealership for me to get it on Monday, November 21st.

Today they got notice that my Transit was placed on 'Quality Hold at Plant' with a expected ETA delivery of December 26th to January 1st.

Not sure what the problem is as they called Ford and could not get a answer why it was put on hold and for what the problem was after it had already passed Quality Control.

Anyone else who has a Transit on order, scheduled for build or delivery might check with their dealer and see if their Transit has been put on hold for this or any other reasons.

thanks for the heads up. My window sticker shows it was to be built today. I just sent an email to my Ford Dealer to see if they have any feedback.

When I got my Transit it had a number of little yellow adhesive arrows stuck here and there- wondered if they were some quality pointer.
I once bought a vehicle new, IIRC it was an F150, that had a window sticker that it had been randomly selected for a QC audit and therefore had about 90 miles on it and had been through a thorough check.
Come to think of it my Transit had 90 miles on it too.....hmmm.

This is great news to me and allays fears that this second ordered van will be correct, even if I am waiting 3 months more for it!

Two of us here ordered vans that when they arrived were NOT what we ordered. Both of us in Florida but ordered separately from two different dealerships. Perhaps this is why quality control stepped in... meaning it could not have been just us two who didn't get the van as ordered???

I suspected a malicious mole mixing up or combining van orders but IDK ;)

Any speculation on what the hold could be? The water in the air filter issue? - the cracking driveline connector? - something else that would keep us all awake at night?

I made an inquiry to my own dealer (mine was built Nov 16) but still no feedback from them. My scheduled delivery date is Dec 8 so I should know one way or another by then I reckon.

FWIK as I posted, two of us members HERE on this site had orders in and the vans that came with those VIN numbers were not what was ordered! I mean, some of it was messed up... FOR INSTANCE one of the things I had ordered that didn't come as ordered were ALL AROUND WINDOWS with 4th row Flip and it came WITHOUT ANY CARGO AREA WINDOWS, You'd think someone would have noticed that, not to mention the other "little" details of messed up orders.

Either the computer program combined options of more than one vehicle or there was/is a mole in the plant messing up the option requests?

To my knowledge there isn't a "quality" issue... but it would be a good time for Ford to address the things some have posted about here on the site .. Like the recall?

Call me suspicious, but it sounds like someone with connections 'wanted' your vans and 'bumped' you, replaced with a random car lot builds (except for simple quality delays, but even those could be 'rebuilds' that were switched.) That especially would make me mad wasting my time all for some shifty dealer getting his commissions real time.

At the start of the process, there should be a 'certified spec sheet' for your build. But dealers with connections have ways to check the system and cherry pick customers custom builds evidently (for a few hundred dollars to someone probably.)

Whatever the reason, I'd put a value on my time like $500 per day and charge them a per diem rate for opportunity revenues lost and costs occurred. In fact, I will submit my similar contract when and if I get a custom build to make sure. It is beyond a reasonable chance that this many people would have so many errors, delays, and totally erroneous builds.

CrewVanMan is the Godfather of the Ford Transit system. Who in their right mind would mess with him. If anyone but him had reported what he did it would probably strike me as samo-samo bizness as usual but it's like putting a fist through a steel plate door for something like that to happen to him.

* EDIT - Here's a link to a similar occurrence a year ago from the Mustang forum, i.e. quality hold.

All I can tell you is I had been tracking the Transit through the plant and it was built 11/7, passed Quality Control on 11/11 and had it showing on the transportation lot. Called Matt Ford 11/14 and they were showing it on the ramp ready for delivery. Then 11/16 they called me and said the van was put on 'Quality Hold' with new delivery date week of 12/25 to 1/1/2017. Questioned why it was put on hold when it had already passed QC.

I had made flight plans in advance to pickup the Transit in KC on November 21st with a stay over to pickup Ford Transit seats at a local upfitter. Cancelled all these plans and now in limbo as the 12/25 week is when the plant is closed but the transportation lot is usually open for deliveries. Plus the weather usually gets worse from this point until Spring.

Matt Ford made some contacts and I did as well. First thought had it being damaged on the transportation lot. This has happened to at least one forum member and I know of 3 dealers who had their Transits damaged on the ramp, one in the rail yard after unloaded at the Regional Distribution Center. Now they are saying it has to do with a part from a foreign source that does not meet Ford standards. So waiting to see what Transits built after mine are being held or released. That is why I put out the warning to see if other forum members who had their Transit built near 11/3 and after have gotten notice from their dealer that their Transit is going to be delayed in delivery.

Made a call to my top contact at Ford Friday and will see what they come up with.

Thanks for this info.
My build date was originally 12/5 but the window sticker isn't up yet ... and the delivery was set for 1/23

As for my van being bumped and replaced with a lot item.... probably not being it was the white gold metallic?

If I do receive any flak then I might add that I used to make $200 an hour... and with this I had planned to sell my home and it has cost me (the wrong van being delivered and the delay on a second) several hundred dollars a month... now going into the 3rd month.... it is what it is. ;)

What if they found out that the little yellow jack that is strapped to the floor in the rear of the van had too much lead in the paint? They'd put a halt on the whole operation, right! RIGHT! Lead is a big deal, especially if someone decides to chew on that jack. And you know California will eat your lunch if you put out a product with too much lead.

I may be crazy, but that is what I was told today (lead paint on the jack) when I was finalizing my van order. Seriously.

Maybe the CREW MAN can verify this himself. hint- Talk to Josh

Worked with the Vice President of Corporate Sales for Ford USA and they told me the same thing about the jack coming from a foreign source. With my van being a SPECIAL ORDER unit, they tagged it and placed another approved jack to replace the one added during assembly. It is being moved to the transportation ramp for delivery to Matt Ford.

Great news. So you will be able to make your trip to KC before Christmas ...

Had previously made plans to pickup my Transit on November 21st until it was put on 'Quality Hold' at the plant. With the help of Ford Corporate and special thanks to the plant employees getting the jack replaced on the Transit it was moved out to the transportation lot.

Was notified by Kathy at Ford Corporate that my Transit was delivered to Matt Ford on 11/30 while I was in Las Vegas for the NASCAR Championship Week. She also did me another favor and had Colin's Transit Wagon delivered with mine on the same flat bed truck. Had made new plans to go to KC on December 15th to get the Transit, but when all the changes happened, made new arrangements.

Instead of leaving for home to Texas on Monday, am leaving Las Vegas for KC getting their in the afternoon. Josh Drummond will pick me up on Tuesday morning on the way to the dealership. Will get everything wrapped up on the Transit, then have the BBQ lunch and finish up some new plans for Matt Ford and members of the Transit forum.

Hope to have some NEW things to announce after returning from Matt Ford.

Wonder if they'll have a recall on all the earlier jacks- that would be massive amount of jacks since EVERY Transit has one unlike many of the recalls that just hit a limited number of vehicles...
