I just found on "Ford commercial vehicles" (Ford.com)
that Ford is holding events around the country where YOU can be the "wheel man" behind a Transit.
July 9th at ford complex in dearborn (paging DR. Longboard!) you have to register, looks COOL!
I am going to get me some ecoboost cargo
Check it out!
VanMan, I want to do the same as you, EcoBoost and diesel. Either order will be fine with me. Hopefully both or at least one will be a 350 dually to give me a good comparison to our Sprinter.
I'm actually thinking about driving our Sprinter RV over to this event for a direct comparison.
Looks like I may be attending one of the early ones on 6/11 in Kansas City. It will be about 20 miles from the assembly plant. I'll try to do my best to report back on my feelings and thoughts
If the weather is nice, I think I will take the Sprinter to get the back to back comparison feeling better.
Two things I can't complain about of the Sprinter are the driving/seating comfort, and the fact that for such a large vehicle, (the 24' long & tall model), it sure drives nice & easy. Straight as an arrow.
There's several things I can complain about, one of which is the shifting algorithm Mercedes has programmed with the transmission/motor combo on the V6 model. That's my biggest annoyance in the driving experience.
I won't go into anymore as my post would be excessively long.....
Wow, no pics? We could take all we wanted. Otherwise, agree with your front to back egress. I found it tight too. Didn't really notice the driving position as a hindrance. Felt like a USA designed vehicle to me, although it could use maybe another inch or so of downward travel on the steering wheel. The Sprinter is the same way to both of us. Not a deal killer.
Based on what you said about the steering wheel etc, you would HATE the Promaster. No tilt, just telescope, and very upright. Hands at 4 & 8 o'clock vs 10 & 2.
We had a 2008 Chevy Express class B 3500 van and haven't found anything more comfortable in the van world yet I'll admit. Way less troublesome in the mechanical issues than the 2 Sprinters we've owned.
We're the class B retirees you referred to......
