I just found on "Ford commercial vehicles" (Ford.com)
that Ford is holding events around the country where YOU can be the "wheel man" behind a Transit.
July 9th at ford complex in dearborn (paging DR. Longboard!) you have to register, looks COOL!
I am going to get me some ecoboost cargo
Check it out!

From the field,

Thanks for the heads up VanMan. Signed up for 6/11 in Kansas City. Be interesting since I'm a car geek anyway

We are expecting some feedback on your drives. Take notes please.
I will do my best to do so, I want a Ecoboost first , but want to drive a PUMA 3.2 diesel also.
The confirmation reply said "allow 2.5 hrs" so, I hope we can jump from vehicle to vehicle.
"Longboard"'s review will be very good because he has a lot of time in a Sprinter.

VanMan, I want to do the same as you, EcoBoost and diesel. Either order will be fine with me. Hopefully both or at least one will be a 350 dually to give me a good comparison to our Sprinter.
I'm actually thinking about driving our Sprinter RV over to this event for a direct comparison.

Looks like I may be attending one of the early ones on 6/11 in Kansas City. It will be about 20 miles from the assembly plant. I'll try to do my best to report back on my feelings and thoughts

I saw your date before, you will be first to report to us?
Yes, take your Sprinter if you want, The Transit was modeled after it (both NGV and T1N,look at the 5 cyl. diesel)

If the weather is nice, I think I will take the Sprinter to get the back to back comparison feeling better.

Two things I can't complain about of the Sprinter are the driving/seating comfort, and the fact that for such a large vehicle, (the 24' long & tall model), it sure drives nice & easy. Straight as an arrow.

There's several things I can complain about, one of which is the shifting algorithm Mercedes has programmed with the transmission/motor combo on the V6 model. That's my biggest annoyance in the driving experience.
I won't go into anymore as my post would be excessively long.....

We have the same experience. Drives fine but incorrect transmission shifting
programming. Have to manually shift the automatic is unacceptable. Expect Ford will remove this irritation.

THX for the link, i've got confirmation on the August 14th showing in Seattle Washington. It will be nice to drive the various setups and get my wife behind the wheel to see how she likes it compared to her daily driver (our chevy van conversion). . . though i must say my eyes are wide open when i drive by our local Ford dealership!
