Ford finally does 'Balance Out' 2022 Transit orders

33146 Views 366 Replies 83 Participants Last post by  brianhadley
Well....it has finally happened. Overnight Ford has moved all of our 'Unscheduled - Clean' orders to 'Unscheduled - Balanced Out' status. That will end any 2022 unscheduled Transits to be built. Now we just need to know what is going to happen with price protection (if any at all) and if there is any build priority for 2022 orders that were not scheduled.

I have been telling our customers to request a build out of their 2023 order and make any changes needed. We may hold off submitting those 2023 orders until Ford gives us direction on the other mentioned questions above. Once we know more details on the 2022 to 2023 transition, I will continue to place a forum thread for those changes.

My understanding from various sources, including the dealer, is that Ford will do some sort of priority "magic" to help those with "balanced out" 2022 orders move closer to the front of the line. We shall see what this looks like as time progresses.
How'd that "magic" work out last year when regional reps were saying the same thing to balanced out MY21 orders? I think the truth is that Ford does not have the administrative capability to execute that kind of prioritization.

something about a FORD provided code input during reorder to get priority. The dealer did not have the codes or know when they would be provided.
That definitely sounds like the same nothingburger that Ford reps were promising last year. I think it boiled down to "enter a plea in the notes section of the order and maybe the regional rep will bump the order up to priority 2" if s/he bothers to read the notes. As has been discussed, those priority codes amount to a fig leaf right about now.

...That friend also has a VIN, a build date and a delivery date already.
...
I hope that CVM and other dealers continue to apply the appropriate amount of pressure to Ford to get them to give us an answer on this. It isn't right that not only were our orders cancelled but that we're all stuck in limbo waiting to see how Ford will handle it and they haven't given us any indication they will even publicly answer this question. It's infuriating.
That limbo is the worst part. Folks with "virgin" orders are getting VINs and build dates while Ford refuses to outline a policy for balanced out orders. By the time Ford establishes a protocol for MY22 rollovers, the entire production year will be banged out and those folks will be SOL (AGAIN). Which is probably a feature not a bug.

The time for waiting is long past, folks. Go to a new dealer (as TWinKC did), put in a fresh order and hope you get on the calendar. Keep your original order if you think there is any prayer of getting priority scheduling in two months when Ford pulls their thumbs out of their...

So excited!!! Just finally got my first update email on my order after 330+ days…oh way. It’s a non-update update with Jim Farley basically saying “sorry not sorry”.

(‘22 order now re-submitted for ‘23)
You only just received that nonsense/doublespeak email? On 4 August! Everyone else got it a month ago. It was just as useless in June/July, but still. Ford has the worst systems.

my january 22 order was also balanced out ...like whats next ? do they roll it to a 23 ? cancel it ? is there price protection ?
Have you read the previous 319 posts? It's all in here.
You place a new order. There is no price protection and no priority scheduling (even if Ford or your dealer tells you otherwise - Ford doesn't have the systems to implement priority scheduling). I doubt any January orders made it to production, so the fact your dealer didn't get your van is not an indictment in itself - you were way too late. But if they only just notified that your order was balanced out, find another dealer.

Edit - also check out the threads "waiting on a 22 order" and "waiting on a 2023 order" Read every post. Lot's of good info in there. If you don't want to take the time to read all 3,000+ posts, you probably aren't motivated enough to get a MY23 and should move on to plan B. The whole thing is a long, miserable process that Ford seems to have optimized to induce stress and confusion. Only the informed survive.

That's great however my order was actually early April why would a dealer still be allowed to take an order if there is a cut of date in February
They might have revised one of their stock orders with your details thinking that there was a chance it would get pulled. If they already had that order in the system, modifying it for your build would have allowed them to get your custom order in the system even after the cutoff date.

Ford Canada is a complete joke compared to Ford in the US

We are currently meant to get a call in two business days from a CXS (Customer Experience Specialist) we even have a case number that message was Aug 26 a week ago. Customer response and appreciation fail significantly.

I cant even get build dates confirmed through customer service best i get is a range of dates yet dealer says its scheduled when he responds.
My dealer told me yesterday that Ford has eliminated his zone rep in a cost-cutting move. This means he no longer has a way to interface with Ford corporate to advocate for customers, answer questions, etc. It is not clear if all zone reps have been eliminated or if zones are being consolidated - in either case, this means diminished service across the board. It looks like Ford USA is determined to catch up to Ford Canada in the race to the bottom when it comes to service.

If Ford had the administrative capabilities necessary to execute your conspiracy, nobody would be on order number two or three trying to get a van. The truth is that Ford is working with 20th century systems and technologies... and they are generally incompetent. They promised balanced out 2021 order holders that we would be prioritized - that didn't happen. And then they promised balanced out 2022 order holders the same thing. And it's not happening.

I think that Ford wants to put 2022 order holders at the front of the line for 2023's, but their management structure and woeful technology can't make it happen. So, it's a roll of the dice who gets scheduled. Some 2022 order holders hit Yatzee! and got scheduled right away, some won't get their vans until the last week of MY23 production, some won't get vans at all.

And it's not just Transits. Visit the Bronco site some time to see how Ford has bollocks that up... repeatedly.
