Hello everyone. I used this forum for a month to figure out what options to order on my Lunar Sky colored LWB XLT Ecoboost Low Roof, and really appreciated all of the insights. I finally placed the order 2.5 weeks ago, and was told to expect the vehicle in 8 weeks.

After 2 weeks, the dealer said they were looking for the VIN from Ford and realized their recent Transit Wagon 15-seater orders were all unilaterally canceled by Ford. The dealer said they were told something about Ford being finished with the 2015 15-seaters and transitioning now to the 2016 model for the 15 seaters.

I don't have all the details yet from the dealer, but they seemed certain I would have to reorder a 2016. It seems to me that would imply a major delay.

It all seems strange to me. Any insights?

Yep, you've reached the break off point for 2015 orders. You'll have to order a '16 unless your dealer can find a '15 out there somewhere available for sale.
Around April 1st is usually the model year cutoff for all automakers unless it's a vehicle that's a mid year intro like the Transit was last year mid year.

If you want a faster order process for '16's, you'll want to find a high volume Ford dealer that has more allocations, such as a large fleet seller

Thanks for the insight. Hmm, they must have cut it off in mid-March. I wonder why the dealer seemed to be completely surprised at it.

Do you know if they are taking 2016 orders at this time, or is that something that will happen later?

Thanks again.

Dealers should be able to start taking 2016 Transit orders 5/11/2015 but the first production will not be until 8/10/2015.

Would you want to wait that long or try and find one like you wanted to order? Send me your zip code as I think I may have seen one close to what you were looking for when I did the search for BajaTransit. There is a 12 passenger one in San Antonio.

I ordered four weeks ago today, no VIN so I guess cargo vans maybe cut off now too... My dealer said there is no VINs for his recent orders... he said its 'weird' since he has allotment for transits. email was from yesterday.

During this entire rollout of the new 2015 Ford Transit, the dealers have been the last to know most crucial information. It is bewildering to think that Ford expects to stay in business as it keeps its dealers, and therefore customers, in the dark.

The following two fleet management companies have been tracking the delays etc. in the right columns of their weekly updates.

A very sorry state of affairs.

Condolences to those customers whose expectations of ordering their ideal Transit have just been dashed.

If I owned stock in Ford, I would sell it . . .

See the right columns at these two sites:

PS Edit Not to mention my Wagon is MIA in Ohio. See signature below and here:

Every time I read a thread like this I'm glad my old Ford van is still running well. I'm looking forward to getting into something new and I'm dying to pull the trigger, but there's just no way in **** I'd put a deposit on a Transit right now.

Hopefully the dealers will order many EB DRW cargos. They seem to be a very small percentage of the inventory and move off the lot quickly.

Well, I am at 22030, but might drive up to 300 miles or so to get the right one...

What I ordered was a Lunar Sky LWB Low Roof 15-seater with Ecoboost.

Options on it were charcoal seats, AMFM CD w/SYNC, rear camera, privacy glass, tow package, reverse parking sensor.

Nice-to-haves that I ordered were securilock and the engine block heater.

I'm not interested in a white or silver one.

Thanks,
Roderick

Welcome the the forum, Roderick. Are you familiar with this dealer search tool?

https://www.ford.com/dealerships/locate/results/

You can set geographic limits close or far from your zip code. It takes a while to dig down into each dealer's inventory, after setting vehicle parameters, but it's a start. I have also had good luck doing a Google search with many specific search terms, plus the state abbreviation, in order to go directly to Transit listings.

Good luck!

Nothing in the USA in your specifications. Just like Bajatransit most of the Low Roof 148" Wagons have the 3.7L engine. When you go to the 3.5L EcoBoost, then most go to the Medium Roof. A few 12 passenger ones, No 15 passenger with your specs.

Bajatransit,

Yes, please let me know if you get a VIN.

Heck, might as well let me know the dealer and I'll see if they will order one for me that goes through.
Hey. Sorry I missed this. Yea. The fleet sales manager said he called the Ford rep and they said the order will definitely go through. The last thing I heard 2 days ago was that the production line is stopped until the first week in June.
