Ford has announced that it is recalling 50,157 vehicles in the US, Canada and Mexico for potentially defective fuel pumps. The 2014 Ford Transit Connect is affected, as well as the Ford Focus, Edge and Escape from 2014, and the 2014-15 Ford Fiesta.

The fuel pumps in question are Bosch fuel pumps. The nickel plating in the pumps can fail, resulting in contamination, increased friction and eventual failure.

Bosch fuel pumps plated using the same process have already been the subject of recall campaigns by Volkswagen Group, BMW and Nissan.

Failing fuel pumps can result in vehicles being unable to start, or the engine stalling.

One incident has been reported to Ford linked to the issue, but there was no report of any injury.

Stalling on the highway would suck.
Fortunately they haven't had any injuries because of this and hopefully none come up.

I think auto companies are being extra on the ball with recalls these days, which they should always be.
