Our 2018 Ford Transit build was created for off-road and off-grid living. All electric, with no propane, a 360 watt solar panel, 200 Amp hours of lithium batteries, a 3,000 watt inverter, and an induction cooktop. We have never needed the included shore power hook up. With the real 4x4 installed by Quad Van (and maintaining the Ford warranty) the van has a high and low transfer case that has allowed us to travel to some remote places in Alaska, Canada and the western continental U.S.
Driving the Transit is comfortable for long highway drives and the van has proven to be very capable off road. There is nothing like pulling up to a remote campsite, shutting off the motor, swiveling the passenger seat around and camp is done, rain or shine!
