I'm looking at needing a roof rack to mount the Overland Pros 6k-270 awning to. Van is black (white with a vinyl wrap) so a black rack would be nice. If it has a ladder, it would need to be a side ladder due to the awning covering the back of the van. I like the look of the rear ladder's more but with the awning constraints its just not practical. I could build a rack and have for other vehicles before. But looking at the mounting point options, if I'm going to spend $100's a pair + cost of making a black rack I might as well just get a pre-built rack with ladder option. What is everyone's favorite or wish list rack? Would you buy the one you have again or do something different? I don't love the idea of spending 3k+. Currently don't have a roof vent or solar but may add in the future.

Building your own mounts will cost about $50 total. Maybe $100 tops - depending on the bolts. Assuming you have a table-saw or access to one.

I've had good experience with the Flatline rack. It's made from 8020 extrusion - series 10. Very configurable - put up a deck or solar panels or etc.

These drop-in t-nuts work with 8020 series 10. Attach to rack with screws and fender washers.
