Once in a while I get an antifreeze smell from the front of the vehicle when I get out with it running. The level doesn't seem to be dropping and there are no leaks. Anyone else smelling antifreeze? 2016 with 33,000 miles

Still have warranty? I would get them to test the coolant system. The level may not be dropping a lot but there could be a small drip somewhere that is burning off. Keep an eagle eye on the pavement underneath for wet spots.

Reviving an old thread, I have noticed this smell as well, coolant level is at minimum now with 25,000 miles (no way to know if it was ever topped off at scheduled maintenance). I have noticed it after a very short drive as well as at the end of a steep hill climb. It doesn't happen every time I drive.

Check your turbos for coolant leaks.

I test drove brand new vans at local dealer and most of them were low on coolant.

1. You can buy https://www.amazon.com/Lisle-75500-Combustion-Leak-Detector/dp/B0007ZDRUI
this to test for combustion gases,
2. You could be losing under pressure at some hose etc.

Refill overflow tank and drive around, bring it to temp and drive is hard, and park in drive way and put poster paper under engine bay so we can see any drips out of engine area.

here is a link to turbo leaking in a 3.5

After reading this thread I checked my coolant level. Sure enough, at the minimum mark with 27,000 miles on my 2015 with Ecoboost.

I do remember a slight smell of coolant a couple times in the last year.
If I remember, (no, I didn't go check) there are two marks. One is for "Cold" level and one is for "Hot" level.

Well, I posted an reply a day ago (36hrs +or -) and do not see my post. Is that unusual or the norm? I am asking because it takes time for some of us to compose a legible reply. I am really, really s-l-o-w when writing anything not technical. English was not my favorite subject and I am reminded of that fact every time I do a write. So, considering the latter should I check back or?

Thanks for the info!
This might be a good forum thread to check out, Coolant reservoir leaks are a common problem. The plastic ages from the heat and cracks.

I sure hope it's something like a tank leak or hose. I took a chance and bought it even though it is a displacement (1.5L) thats claimed to have issues with engine sealing. Thanks and I will let 'you all' know how it goes.

So a Transit Connect? Most of the folks here have the Big Transits, so good to specify if it is a Connect, lest you get some confusing info. You can always put your vehicle info into the signature in your account info and it will show on the bottom of all your post. FWIW - there is a Connect section on this site and I think there are also somes specific forums specifically for the connect. Maybe someone will jump in and post those links.

Yep, We have a section in this forum for Transit Connect owners, You should probably ask your questions in that section.
Everything else on this forum is for the full size Transit.
