what are you going to loading up in it?
For me: high tech "hippy Van", I travel in it, unload my stuff into a screened shelter which I cook in,store food, coolers supplies etc. hang out as a "base camp". When the van is unloaded, inflalt air matress and sleep.
Honda EU2000i gen powers what I need, computers and orthers about 14 amps maxed out, portable use outside of van only. Honda Ruckus to haul stuff: bags of ice, fire wood, beer to give to others who visit the camp fire.
I have alot of motorcycles, sail cats (hobie 16-18, prindles)
Home depo Sh*t
I have done this for years on week long trips on vacation. Rent New Econo and Chevy Express's (I am a Ford guy) but the GM van is better
I was part of the 70's van craze, but not that extreme, If you where to see it parked it would not stick out in any way (stealth camper van)
Yes, I am single, no kids, 2 seats cargo will work

Is that Van store still on Telegraph? I remember checking out some stuff there before I ever bought the E-150. Before the Sprinter I met with the guy in Warren, if he's still around I may have him install some fans in my next one...probably a Transit.

16 yrs old in 1973,total "car" guy so I was around alot of them, but did not have one @ that time. Friends Older brothers had them, my older brother had one.
I drove past that place about 2 hrs ago, still there, with alot of pickup camper shells if its the place by Tele & Ford rd?
I was on a recon to Dearborn/Ford advanced vehicles and I did not pay attention to it, but want to say yes.
BACK TO THE SHOW: Saw about 10 Transits or so on Oakwood across from Greenfield village/test track (behind cyclone fence). Before ANYBODY asks: POSTED, NO PHOTOS on the fence.
#1 super size dual wheel Cargo left/right slilders w/windows RED-POWERSTROKE (white steel rims)
#2 The short/low roof Cargo (looks like the self-driving one) WHITE
#3 DARK GREEN mid roof all windows (wagon?)
#4 Mid roof,lwb BLACK cargo
others
No sidewalk between the fence and the road, Had to pay attention to traffic (was light) so....took a second pass
I left with the feeling that I WANT ONE, and they looks very sharp in white

So you're just a kid! I was twenty in '73, and I still remember cringing as my buddy took a recip saw to his brand new short Chevy van to cut out the rear portholes.
They were useless, just looked cool from the outside.
I remember driving down to FL in it back then for spring break and sitting on the mattress in back was like living in a cave. Might have been more fun if it wasn't just four guys!
Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that over 40 years later I'd still be doing the same thing.....leaving winter behind one trip at a time by driving down to FL in a van and living in it.

Just to add that when this van is parked it will be empty. Sounds like many are building there own "camper vans", I have camped in it (vans) but will not be adding anything that cannot be removed in short time. Mid roof for standing loading/motorcycles. The thing which Benz did right is the taller roofs, now everybody needs them to market them (new US vans).
So, no giant airbrushed dragons or porthole windows, anything like that.
Something really nice to travel in
or haul something big (I hauled all of my friends 50+" big screens in my ranger) WORD OF CAUTION: when people find out you have a pickup or van they want you to haul EVERYTHING, lumber, drywall,tv's, washer/dryers\', JUNK

I kept my Sprinter stealthy on the outside, hadn't paid for camping in years.
Oh, and BOLTING in a nice bed along with a few frills keeps you out of the van loaning business.

RIGHT ON, I will get my 8 tracks and bean bag chair if you are going to Fort Lauderdale in your van. "A**/grass/or gas nobody rides for free"
My older bro was the mech type, guy comes over with the paper template for the sunroof taped to the roof. NEW dodge carge van , " you measued this right" bro said and took the "jig saw" to the roof!! when they went to put the sun roof in, it fell thru!
After re-reading instructions you where to mark 1+ inch to the inside of the template.
The 70's
I am not paying 40-45k to cut any holes into it, just say'n

sorry for the highjack,
No dual silders in low roof at all ever? the bare body which I walked around in @ work (vender) was a mid roof, lwd, the floor stamping was made for left/ right silders, but only had the right opening.
so, I don't know? if ALL stampings are such?
I will be first to say that I have followed Transits for a long time but are NOT the expert at this forum, I can be wrong/corrected. Use everyones input here.

We need to start a Sleath Transit camper tread, plenty of stories, input. Still learning the controls here, every forum different
