I am needing to replace both Ecoboost turbos on my 2015 Transit - high roof, extended length. I'm wondering if it is wise to continue driving as is or should I get them replaced ASAP. What can I expect in terms of driving performance if I dont replace sooner than later

What is wrong with turbos or why do you think they need to be replaced? In terms of driving performance, there will be less.

The 3.5 turbo's generally do not wear out until you have 180,000 miles on them according to past forum posts.

A wore out turbo can send bits of metal into the engine from the turbine blades.

For me it would be ASAP whether they are a problem or not.

I notice a little bit sluggish response when accelerating. Ford dealer says both turbos need replacing.

Seems a little soon, but just be glad you're not replacing the turbo in a Sprinter...

Now I'm curious what the common failure mode of these turbos is.

at 99,000 miles my turbos seem perfect
I am surprised the dealer thinks they are bad. why do they think they need to be replaced? what has failed on the turbos?
some other part of the system would have to have failed first... oil.. or something was ingested in the turbos
skeptical it's both at the same time as well
