I'm going to send an email to my dealer listing a few items I'd like to pick up from their parts department when I (hopefully) go to get the van next month. I couldn't think of anything else then someone mentioned the plug for the upfitter switches the other day. So here's my list, can anyone think of other items I might want as well?

2 x keyless entry keypads (is there only one model of this?)

roof rack

front side window deflectors (is there a proper name for these?)

upfitter switch connector WPT-1408

I also thought I'd ask if they can figure out the pieces I'd need from the wagon to add the rear door open handle to my van. Yeah, plenty of creative solutions to be found here but I'm lazy... :D

Anything else?

I have remote start on the van order, though it sounds like that is the more basic version and it's possible to get the fancier remote start (that talks back to the remote) later.

I have considered picking up a TURD and taking it with me. Bet I'd get some stares if I pop open the hood and install it there on the dealer's lot! :D

1. Some folks order the extra fuel door which comes with a diesel for adding stuff (shore power plug, etc.)

Does anyone have a picture of the 2 doors on a diesel? Or better yet a picture showing this mod done on a gas?

Not that I know of, but I'm going 400 miles to get the van so can't just drop in again later.

The closest dealer to me (where I ordered the first time) is only 4 miles from home and literally around the corner from my office but was so incompetent they'll never get my business again. There are plenty of others around town but I don't know anything about them.

Have Ryan order the parts you need now so they will be there when your Transit arrives. You could install them when you get home or have them installed when it arrives at the dealership.

There are a few different models on the keyless entry pads. Some are the slimmer models with smaller buttons, so you might see which one you would like the best. Go on eBay and look at the different Ford ones and use the part number for the particular one you like. Be sure to go with the stick-on model so you won't have to drill into the body to install it.

On the door handle issue, I have went through the Ford Parts listing and was trying to find a handle that may have been used on the Econoline vans that would work on the Transit. Some have measurements, some do not. I am trying to see the different ones on the vans that come through the auction now and will let you know if I find one that works the best.
