I searched for info on removing dash panels to access the 12v socket in the center dash. Didn’t see anything so thought I’d share.

Pull out the trim panel in the lower cup holder. Remove the top cup holder. Both just pop out. In total there were 5 @7mm screws. With the one screw on the right side of the center trim removed you can pull the trim and gain access.
Hopefully the photos are self explanatory. Took me about 15 minutes to disassemble, put in the USB port, and reassemble.

This is really helpful, thank you! I did everything you mentioned and removed the bolt that you’re pointing to, but still struggling to get to the back of the cigarette lighter. Do the two cupholders in the centre have to be removed? Any tips on how to remove the clips in the section where the cigarette lighter is? Is it best to start pulling from the bottom below the cupholders?

I did not remove the center cup holders. Just pull on the end where the screw is. Mine is 2024, not sure if they made any changes.

to get the old socket out go inside it, there are two tabs that stick into the round chrome section. Those black plastic tabs need to be pushed out away from the chrome. I did one side at a time, pulling the chrome piece out as I went. Took some fiddling. Do a Google search if that’s not clear, there are little tools that do the job easier, “T” shaped to engage both tabs at once.

hope that helps.
