I have the 3 Customer Connection Points on driver seat base with 60 amp fuses. I do not yet have any house batteries but have the Ford dual batteries.

My question is: Can I connect my Maxx Roof Fan 7500K to one of these Customer connection points? The fan draws maximum of 5 amps. My plan would be to install an inline fuse ( 7.5 or 10 amp) in the fan power wire (16 or 14 AWG) right before connection to the Connection Point. I do not want to use the Aux switches because they are ignition controlled.

I chickened out cutting a hole in roof so I had it installed by a so called conversion company on Wed 8-5. I was going to not have them wire it but at the last second I changed my mine. The installation of the fan seems good and does not leak so far -- tested with garden hose on the roof. The fan and the remote works perfectly.

However, the wiring. They ran the hot wire of fan directly to the fuse panel underneath the steering wheel using what I think is called a fuse tap. It is a one prong blade that inserts into an empty fuse space. The fuse tap has an inline 15 amp fuse which is connected to the fan wire. The setup seems cheesy and old fashioned for a modern EXPENSIVE vehicle. I pulled out the fuse tap but had difficulty reinserting. They obviously new nothing about the Transit electrical system. Also, the fan grounding wire was grounded with a screw unto the cross rib next to the fan. According to the Ford BEMM that is not a correct Grounding Point. i Yi Yi !!

If I recall, there are grounding points down low on the sidewalls of the van back by the rear doors. The drivers side grounding points are for higher draw items and the passenger side grounding points are for low draw items. I'm pretty sure the info is in the BEEM.
